If Kimmo retires, I'd be interested in Boyle on a 1-2 year term. He was basically used exactly like Kimmo was this year, and played particularly well in the PO's. - Tomahawk
Really? I thought he looked bad in the PO's. Like he was out gassed. |

Does anyone else have a difficult time reading a John Gonzalez article?
I really wish I could find a Sixers writer who I respected. |

I would rather bring Kimmo back than Boyle.
Kimmo looked bad towards the end of the season, but he's a better defensive player than Boyle. Having Boyle and Streit would really handcuff the Flyers in certain situations. |

They have a few options. A trade might be the best route. |

Ugh. I know. I was so sad when he passed away. He was one of the few old school writers left. He would never write something without hearing all sides of the story and getting things verified. |

I just don't want them to go into next season thinking they have to make a move for a top 4 dman through trade or FA. It's ok to go with the status quo if nothing reasonable presents itself. |

Wow...maybe this is just after the fact sniping at a guy after he's gone, but Jesus, Torts seemed to be intent on destroying the Canucks this past season - Jsaquella
Is it possible the Lightning won a cup in spite of him? |

Agreed. We as fans can sit here and go on about if Mason was healthy we'd be playing the Habs Saturday, but the bottom line is that the team is flawed and it might be a situation that needs patience.
If a great move falls into your lap, sure pull the trigger. But otherwise, there's no real need to move a kid like Brayden Schenn for a quick fix. |

No idea...he did have a good team. Did a solid job with the Rangers. Very possible there was a clash with Gillis or whatever and he was just burned out. |

Stanley Cup teams don't have many flaws. The Flyers had some serious flaws. I don't know how or where they would have lost, but this team was not built for a long playoff run. |

His possession metrics were crazy good.... +11.2 CF% rel, and was only out for 3 EV goals against:

Strictly an eyeball thing in this case for me.
To be honest, I haven't even been on ES in a couple days |

I really think the Nucks are a playoff team with a better coach. Sedins may not be what they used to be, but they are still very capable players.
Western Canada hockey was just awful this season. |

You don't need to. Just look at Boyle's last 5 seasons. That will tell you all you need to know. He's a 60 point, top pairing dman. |

Yep. It's odd, but if they had a healthy Mason, it's very possible that they could be alive today, heading into a series vs the Habs.
The trouble is, with that thinking, you'd be ignoring the issues. In 2010 they had a couple very good matchups and went to the SCF. Rather than fix the goaltending, they brought in an expensive 5th defenseman and re-signed the journeyman goalie that got hot.
I want them to say we were a mediocre possession team, didn't fare well at 5 on 5 and rode of special teams too hard. We need to get better puck movement on the blueline, but have to avoid making short term, OHHHH SHiny! Moves.

Might as well grab Muzzin from the Kings too.
Since we're on the subject of California defenseman, would you rather have Lindholm or Fowler? |

Boyle looked cooked in the playoffs. I advocated signing him earlier in the year, but he looked as done as Kimmo. Pass. - Jsaquella
