Yep. It's odd, but if they had a healthy Mason, it's very possible that they could be alive today, heading into a series vs the Habs.
The trouble is, with that thinking, you'd be ignoring the issues. In 2010 they had a couple very good matchups and went to the SCF. Rather than fix the goaltending, they brought in an expensive 5th defenseman and re-signed the journeyman goalie that got hot.
I want them to say we were a mediocre possession team, didn't fare well at 5 on 5 and rode of special teams too hard. We need to get better puck movement on the blueline, but have to avoid making short term, OHHHH SHiny! Moves. - Jsaquella
I don't know if its a given they beat the Pens and the Rangers did outplay them for much of the series.
The 2nd period of game 7 was the worst playoff period for the Flyers in a long time. I don't remember them being outplayed that bad since those Briere Sabers games |

Wow...maybe this is just after the fact sniping at a guy after he's gone, but Jesus, Torts seemed to be intent on destroying the Canucks this past season - Jsaquella
God, I hope the Pens sign him. |

Might as well grab Muzzin from the Kings too.
Since we're on the subject of California defenseman, would you rather have Lindholm or Fowler? - PhillySportsGuy
I think the Muzzin ship has sailed. Maybe Martinez would be an easier get. |

There were definitely points during the series where it was looking a bit like Globetrotters vs Generals. |

Also true. Not saying they would have beat the Rangers, but Mason playing like he did in games 4, 6 & 7 might have won games 1 or 3.
And they absolutely could have lost to the Pens. Bu yeah, that's why I want them to look at the bad, more than the good |

What do they ask the people trying out for the Generals? What are your keys to being unsuccessful? |

They're probably better off in the long run. If they make it to the conference finals, Homer is probably still the GM and Ed thinks they are one player away again.
That would turn into Niskanen for $7M or Yandle for Schenn and a first. |

I like them both a lot. The Ducks have the Sens first rounder this year too. Quite a wealth of talent for them. |

Totally missed that second part... Lindholm, I think. I think Fowler's still got some gaping holes in his game that you could drive an 18-wheeler through.

I think Fowler has the higher upside because he's more naturally gifted, but I would take Lindholm too. He just doesn't seem to make many mistakes for such a young player. |
