I say it a lot. People are probably tired of hearing it.
But this franchise has just been unlucky. As much heat as the franchise owner and senior management can bring upon themselves at times, damn it, if a person really watched those seasons, it's un-(frank)ing-believable they didn't win one of those two years - AllInForFlyers
It really is. Even 2010 burns a little bit. The way everything fell into place. After the Boston comeback, I really thought to myself that it was finally our year. Then they took a dump on Montreal and I just felt like it was destiny. Frank the Blackhawks. |

Looking at the 2005 first round... I haven't heard of half those players. It's scary how many first rounders are actually busts. - Feanor
I suspect 2014, when you look back on it, is going to look a lot like 2005 w/o Sid at the top. Might be a couple of really good players in there, but we'll probably look back and go THAT guy went in the 1st-round?? |

They should draft Sonny Milano. He just sounds like a Philadelphia name. |

Reminds me a little of 2005, where the Flyers moved down and took Steve Downie. Mike Keenan and Florida took Keenan McArdle, who never really made it. - AllInForFlyers
Tuukka Rask got taken right after McArdle.
And Matt Niskanen one pick before Downie. |

I'd love to get a scouting report from OB about him. I remember reading some things earlier in the season, but nothing of late. |

Ha! Probably could've/should've taken Rask, but let's see...we would've had Niitty as the young goalie, then, pre-hip problems and coming off the Calder championship, plus we would've been thinking Esche was the present/near-future?
And let's be honest: It would've been a cold day in hell for the Flyers, in that era, to take a goalie in the first round. They just weren't gonna do it.

I was thinking that too.
It's like someone wrote hockey/mafia fan fiction and just made that name up. |

It's not like we didn't already know the Pens fans were frontrunners, but at the first sign of a headwind, those "fans" can jump ship with the best of them.

Yeah, it's impossible to predict how it'll shake out -- part of why the draft is so darned fun.
With that said, the Niskanen part of it is pretty funny, with him being tabbed as a possible UFA savior for this team all these years later.

So Michael Sam gets a reality show on the Oprah network.
I want nothing more than to see this douchebag fail. Not because he's gay, but he's completely using his sexuality and exploiting it to his own personal benefit.
Seems to me like it goes against equality which is what the gay and lesbian community preaches. Real equality would be us never hearing his name again after he came out because he's a marginal NFL roster player if that. |
