I think its $5.8 mil in cap penalty
$4.2 mil bonuses for Iginla
$800k in bonuses for Krug
$850k in bonuses for Hamilton - FourFeathers773
That's total bonuses, not necessarily earned. |

You act like Boston was outplayed. Honestly, if it weren't for missing a few open nets and Carey Price, the Bruins would've won this in 5 or 6. They could be faster, true, but if you replay that series 10 times, I'd bet the Bruins win it 7 times. |

I think they'll have to either buy out or trade Kelly for cap space. 3.5 is a big cap hit for an oft injured defensive specialist. I could see Paille playing on L3 full time if the cap gets in the way. I say don't touch the D yet. I would go into next season with the following pairs:
Seids - JB
Z - Dougie
Krug - Miller/McQuaid
The reason I have seids/jb as 1st pair is because id give them the tough assignments / big min during the reg season. Chi does the same with Oduya/hjalmarsson with great success. It would keep Z fresher and I don't think that top pair would struggle. Sooo many D prospects too... Not time to get cute with it IMO.
Marchand: Trade em! I kepp seeing Eberles name thrown around, and he would be purrrrfect with 17/46. So just for fun... Marchand + Spooner/Khoko + Bart/McQuaid? Obviously we know what Bos gets, Edm gets a good enough top 6 replacement for Ebs in marchy (with some grit/experience) the future 2C they desperately want and some help on the back end they desperately need.
Lucic / Krejci / Eberle
Loui / Bergy / Smith
??? / Yeti / Fraser
Paille / Campbell / ???
Filling in those ??? would have to either be FA's or two of Spooner/Khoko, Camera, Florek, Lindblad, Caron. Move over PC, I'm takin over! Haha, but seriously I love this speculation poop. Who knows what'll happen. I mean, as much as we all thought Seguin or Marchand would be traded, who saw Loui Eriksson coming? And had anyone heard of Smith? Lol |

Is Edler really an upgrade to Boychuk? More offense but less D. Plenty of blue line production from Hamilton/Krug IMO. I want defensive guys

by my math and tracking how they explained it, BOS sounds like they are for sure on the hook for about $5 mil here - FourFeathers773
Yeah, should be around $4.7 to $5, not sure if all of that will be overage though/how that works with the LTIR etc. |

Better puck mover, tough to evaluate system to system, is he worth the $1.5M extra cap? Tough call. |

Rumour at the deadline was something around Spooner/Bart/+
Of course that was Gillis, if Benning comes in he'll know the system better than anyone. |

Ok
There was a rumour floating this morning that it was Marchand but most just treated it as a sick joke.

I wouldn't move Marchand for Edler, but if he is traded I would love to see it be to Vancouver ... strictly for the ensuing hilarity of the fan base. |

Nice blog Ty. Still can't believe Montreal beat Boston. That honestly looked like the best Boston team I have ever seen. b's are set up well for a long time. I hope the Habs can keep up. |

It was pure speculation from some Boston writer. Never gonna happen and you'd have to wonder how much more this fanbase can out up with if this team traded for probably the most hated player in Vancouver. |

If asked a year and a half ago to make that trade straight up, most Canuck fans would laugh. IMO a smart GM should buy low on Edler. |

It'll be interesting to see if Benning winds up there. I'd assume he would have been part of the reason they coveted Edler in the 1st place, so there's a good chance he sees the value there. |

Does Washington or Pittsburgh have any interest in Benning? If he's as good as people say Va cant be the only team interested. |

Great series and tough loss.....
Bruins still have a loaded roster, like someone posted before all you need to do is make minor tweaks. I can guaranty that next year Bruins will still be the favorites coming out of the east.
Just curious, do you guys buy the Iginla curse? 1st Pens now Bruins?
thanks..... |

So I was just checking out some of the upcoming FA's and a few names piqued my interest...
Mike Cammaleri? He'd probably cost too much, but adding a ton of speed and puck burying ability on the top line would be nice.
Radim Vrbata, same deal as Cammaleri, but is a RH shot and would cost less. I could actually see that happening.
Matt Moulson. Not sure what he'll cost, and doesn't seem like a Bruin type, but he can score so Im interested lol
Dany Heatly. Now, this is a total dark horse... It would totally depend on the $. I might be way off, haven't seen him play since he took a nose dive but I feel like he could be productive on a sheltered line playing with a guy like Soderberg. Again, I could be an idiot for even considering this lol
Ray Whitney. Speed. Experience. Offense. Reliability. The whole package. He would be a force on L3 with Yeti
Mike Brown. Thornton replacement that would add speed. Paille - Soup - Brown would be a great L4 |

Not a curse just cant be counted on to score anymore. Still a very heady player and a team 1st guy, but he doesn't have the legs to be a dominant scorer anymore. I really think his numbers were boosted by Krejci Lucic having great years more so than vice versa. Though I do think his presence brought about that success if that makes any sense lol. Once Krejci was shut down by mtl, Iginla pretty much became useless. He just cant create his own chances anymore |
