Great blog Ty.
I mean no disrespect but I never understood why Boston would trade a kid like Tyler Seguin. Sure the players they got in return are doing fine but the B's had speed demon. His potential is through the roof! I don't understand what could have happened to warrant is departure, he's 22 years old. He finished 4th in scoring this year. In the whole league!
Montreal, Detroit and Tampa don't have that young elite center to build around that everyone is looking for! You have to finish at the bottom of the league to have the chance to get a guy like him which Boston didn't do and they got rid of him!
Why is everyone in Boston sticking their head in the sand? I'm still upset with this trade and I'm a Habs fan. Imagine!
Why is Charelli not held accountable?
This is a trade Boston will regret for a long time. - andrest
cause if you believe the rumors, he was banging another players wife, and you can't have a player like that in the locker room. |

Tough to read too much into a game 7 loss. It really could have gone either way with a bit of luck, a save here, a bounce there. The Bruins are a great team. A few changes here and there and they'll be right back in it. - micah555
theres just a couple of things that are bothering Bruins fans..
1. We lost to Montreal,.. f.n. Montreal
2. Most fans would still like to think that the bruins were the better team
3. They came out flatter than anne hathaway in the final 2 games
4. 12 Post.. 12 shots that don't even count as a goal, but Price was beat.
5. Bartowski.
Minor tweeks... I'd keep Thorton, he has a veteran presence, and he was given all the credit for game 2 comeback win, and in general a solid player, doesn't screw things up.

Great Article!
As a Oiler fan, I can tell you the Oil will not trade any of their Super kids for anything less than a 1st line center or a 22 minute plus defense man. (who hopefully shoots right, as all the Oiler defense prospects shoot left) I doubt the bruins would give up anything of that value, or the players will waive their NMC/NTC.
As to moving out players, well, you have to. If the cap does go to 69 million like rumored instead of 71 million, the Bruins are right royally screwed, especially with all the RFA's of quality to sign. You have 9 players signed all making over 4 million, and 4 of them are over 6 million. One of them has to go, as I guess Krug will get a decent pay raise. According to Capgeek, you have 10 spots to fill, correct?
I suspect if a deal was with the Oilers, it would be a single Bruin traded for 2 Oilers. I can see Marchand as someone the Oilers would be interested in, (if he waives his Modified NTC) so I suspect the Oilers would offer Gagner (with some salary retained) and a decent but not top prospect like Gernat. Still, don't see the 2 teams as a good fit for trade, even though we like half your players. |

Thanks for the kind comments, guys.
On the Marchand topic, I really wouldn't move him. He's still part of the best PK forward duo in the league in my opinion, and I like his game when he's driving the puck up ice and creating lanes for his linemates. Based on the comments from PC/Julien today, it sounds like they're going to try and reel his agitator role back a bit and have him focus on what's made him a legitimate top six weapon. Here's the thing for me: You look at this stats this year and you're like 'Wow, those are solid.' Then you notice that he really didn't play on the power play at all this year. When he finds his groove, his even-strength game borders on elite, in my opinion. - tyanderson
Yeah, an elite player for sure...

Eh, I think it's important to look big picture here. I don't think the NHL is abandoning this playoff format anytime soon, so I mean, you're going to need to go head-to-head with these teams every year. It's not like when we whined about the lack of speed against Carolina in 2009. It's like, here to stay this time. - tyanderson
I'm not saying adapting is a mistake. Obviously that needs to happen, or you run the risk of falling behind everyone else. Saw plenty of teams in our division doing that, trying to pick up tough guys or a little more grit to compete against the Bruins.
So, yes, the Bruins weakness is quicker teams, and it'd be a mistake not to fix that.
Still, when playing their best, the Bruins take away or limit opponents' speed game; Montreal really being the only one to have more consistent success, and there might be other reasons for that other than just being quicker.
Also hard to judge a team on their play when they don't show up for two huge games. Their mental makeup, that might be looked into, though. |

I think they'll have to either buy out or trade Kelly for cap space. 3.5 is a big cap hit for an oft injured defensive specialist. I could see Paille playing on L3 full time if the cap gets in the way. I say don't touch the D yet. I would go into next season with the following pairs:
Seids - JB
Z - Dougie
Krug - Miller/McQuaid
The reason I have seids/jb as 1st pair is because id give them the tough assignments / big min during the reg season. Chi does the same with Oduya/hjalmarsson with great success. It would keep Z fresher and I don't think that top pair would struggle. Sooo many D prospects too... Not time to get cute with it IMO.
Marchand: Trade em! I kepp seeing Eberles name thrown around, and he would be purrrrfect with 17/46. So just for fun... Marchand + Spooner/Khoko + Bart/McQuaid? Obviously we know what Bos gets, Edm gets a good enough top 6 replacement for Ebs in marchy (with some grit/experience) the future 2C they desperately want and some help on the back end they desperately need.
Lucic / Krejci / Eberle
Loui / Bergy / Smith
??? / Yeti / Fraser
Paille / Campbell / ???
Filling in those ??? would have to either be FA's or two of Spooner/Khoko, Camera, Florek, Lindblad, Caron. Move over PC, I'm takin over! Haha, but seriously I love this speculation poop. Who knows what'll happen. I mean, as much as we all thought Seguin or Marchand would be traded, who saw Loui Eriksson coming? And had anyone heard of Smith? Lol - Shaundre93
I appreciate the offer guys but I'm not sure I want to play with the Bruins.

The Bruins need to do two things.
Re-sign Iginla and pick up Dan Boyle but i dont know if they have the cap space to do it. |

Any thoughts on Khohklachev?? Statistically he seems to be the best prospect in Providence. Is Spooner projected to be better than Khokhlachev? And finally do you Khohklachev in the Bruins top six one day? Any input would be appreciated. |

Very different players, but both have high offensive upside. Spooner looks to be more of a perimeter center. Fantastic wheels. Koko is less fast, more shifty. More willing to get dirty. Spooner has admitted he's very uncomfortable on the wing, and he's looked every bit the part when he's been put there. At the moment he's also been a little overwhelmed physically at the Center position at the NHL level. Koko's only had 1 game in the NHL so hard to judge how he'll transition.
Both probably look to be 2nd line/PP type guys. Max upside maybe low-end 1st liners.
Just based on the org depth my guess would be that Spooner gets packaged either for a better positional fit for the org prospect wise or an NHL player. Koko gets a few more AHL seasons under his belt. If I'm not mistaken Koko was also the youngest player taken in his draft year, so he's got a bit more developing to do. |

Thanks for the info. I agree and think if Koko can add 10 pounds and get stronger he can be an nhl star. He has a lot of heart and his skill level is undeniable.

Does any one remember Vladimir sabodtka?
He plays for the Bles now, in case you didn't know.
Spooner is a much much better player than Sabodtka is and will be.
So, if we ca get what he is worth or close, trade him.
But, we just traded away a number one center last year and trading players for the hell of trading prayers is probably not too bright.
Watched spooner in Springfield MA and Provedence uses him like there Bergy.
He plays the PK and PP and can still put up points.
So all around he looks better than Koko, but koko is still young. |

If Koko ends up being like Sobotka they better not trade him lol. I love that guy and would take him over Kelly in a heartbeat on our 3rd line. Hated that trade when it happened, hate it more now that we don't even need warsofsky (he's just Krug lite) |

the bruins are elite, and a better team than the habs.
it was a game 7 and price was outstanding throughout the entire series.
it happens. step away from the ledge people.
but to address some of concerns, I think boston and Edmonton could be very good trading partners.
a deal surrounding eberle could be exactly what we both could use.
all of lucic, boychuk, marchand, Eriksson and paille are interesting

We'd love it if you'd take Boychuk/Kelly/pretty much any combination of picks and prospects |
