I'd make one exception... and it's a name I don't see bandied about very often... Joni Pitkanen.
Any news on his recovery?
If he's good to go, it would be hard to find a better value legit top-pairing minute muncher than him, coming off missing a year and all. Of course it would be risky, but hopefully that would be offset by a very short term contract and a reasonable cap-hit. - Tomahawk
Yeah, Pitkanen would be a clever solution, if he is able to resume his career. The last I heard he's been rehaabbing and wants to play, but no word on how close he is or when he'd be ready to go. |

Those guys really stepped up their games last night.
Richards probably had his best game of the playoffs.
It doesn't bother me a bit as a Flyers fan.
I still love Richards and will be rooting for them against Chi.
J Will with 12 points total in 6 game 7s is pretty incredible.
Nice gesture for Teemu at the end of the game by LA too. - Marc D
When Carter and Richards played here, it was a different transition in leadership and a different aproach to hockey in general for the Flyers. A different feel. I still hold no ill will against them but I never felt like they were the starts we were used to see leading the team.
I remember having a conversation with Crims over Xbox either before or after the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs. I believe he said it best, it was just too soon for us. it was probably the most difficult Stanley Cup final I ever had to predict, the New Jersey Devils or Philly West. I don't hate the LA Kings by any stretch but, it was too soon. |

McKeown has apparently gotten some attention.

That's true but he's showing he's good in any one area.........I've personally talked to a scout who isn't high on him.
I wouldn't mind him but he's not at the top of my list. |

Bleacher report has the Flyers taking Dylan Larkin. They're reasoning: "He's a power forward and they like power forwards." - JAKEw1234
I personally wonder if they'd take a kid in round 1 who is likely going to end up in college and take longer to develop.
I wouldn't say no but not sure what their mindset is |

Asked a scout who has watched him and this is what I was told.
excellent two-way center, great skater & only looks better w/ compete. Good strength and size. Doesn’t have O ability of a guy like Alex Tuch but he’s close. Very safe middle first rounder |

okay okay fair enough he seems like a good pick, but I still hate that every year lots of sites have the Flyers taking power forwards in their mock drafts just because they play a physical style. |

I remember when Drew Doughty was expected to be the next big thing. Drew Doughty is pretty awesome but Subban has dwarfed Doughty in a very short time. Subban is F*ckin' awsome! Its very rare that a defenseman can find a way to dominate a game pretty consistently. |

Read some interesting things today...
First off while Pitkanen was a great D-man in his prime it's been what? Four years since he played a full season? If Carolina doesn't resign him at a discount (He owes them), Kimmo retires and he's willing to sign a one year CHEAP it may be worth the risk but I agree with some of the other replies that I'd rather see one of the Phantom D-men get a chance. It's to bad about Gus, guy was never going to be a star but playing him all year this year would have given Ghost, Hagg, Morin and Alt another year to develop... and answered the question once and for all if he was an NHLer. Anyway I think I'd like to see Manning get a shot, he played well in Philly two seasons ago and with those kids coming up it could be some motivation for him to live up to his potential.
Akeson also deserves a shot but he won't be playing fourth line minutes. I'd like to see the lines next year like this:
S.Laughton- Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Schenn-Simmonds
Akeson-Courturier-Read
Raffl-Hall-Rinaldo
Kimmo-Coburn
AMac-Schenn
Manning-Grossman
Mason
Emery
Vinny experiment wasn't successful. Send hem to Nashville, Phoenix, Florida...convince him to waive. Nice guy but come on, didn't work out. I'm also not convinced a twenty-goal scorer in a bad year who once captained a Stanley Cup winning team isn't wanted. Why wouldn't Florida want him? Wasn't Upshall their second highest point producer with 38?!Plus he already played in Tampa.
Try out Laughton at wing with Giroux, he shoots left and the kid may surprise everyone and win the Calder. Raffl was Ok. He would slide up in case of injuries. Akeson was great in the playoffs.
