I'd actually consider that. Can't see Lecavalier waiving to go to Columbus, or Columbus taking on 4 years of Vinny at $4.5mm, when they can just use a compliance buyout on Umberger and let him walk with zero cap implications.

he only has 1 year left and his point production until the past season and a half was about that same as hartnell's. 25 goals 50 points. harntell's had 2 60+ point seasons, 2009 and 2012 - both when he hit the 30 goals mark. he's more of a 40+ point guy on average.

he's more versatile than hartnell and doesn't fall on his ass every 30 seconds and doesn't take nearly as many penalties. they're the same age. wouldn't be a terrible stopgap and they'd get out of hartnell's contract. he might be willing to go there because they're becoming a legit team. have a solid gm, and president, and good group of players.

exactly, and as i said just a minute ago - point production is roughly the same with far fewer penalty minutes. same age. same height. almost same weight. i'd do it.
