Why are Flyers trying to dump Viny? - VANTEL
Because he was bad overall as a player and doesn't fit in the system that the coach is trying to run.
Every single line Lecavalier played on saw their possession numbers drop with Vinny on their line. His lines were outshot and outchanced, despite the Flyers going out of their way to shield him and give him far more starts in the offensive zone than the defensive zone.
Bottom line is, he's just not a fit. He can't play wing effectively, and the Flyers have two good, young NHL caliber centers that need ice time and opportunity. He doesn't skate very well and he also isn't a very good two way player. |

exactly, and as i said just a minute ago - point production is roughly the same with far fewer penalty minutes. same age. same height. almost same weight. i'd do it. - hammarby31
I'd prefer moving Vinny for him, but I'd be open to a Hartnell swap, too |

dumpers gonna' dump.
he was a bad fit last year, despite the 20 goals, especially after the back injury. he slowed everyone down, got dropped to 4th line, was terrible defensively, can't hang onto the puck along the wall, doesn't set anyone up really, has become a slow skater....his only real value was one-timers on the pp, which is not enough for this contract. that's why. |

Another deal that may get rid of Vinnys contract is to Vancouver if he would waive.
Vancouver is looking for a 2 nd line center and you are looking to dump Vinnys contract. David Booth numbers were terrible last year but he was injured and the last third of the season was one of our best forwards LHF. He has one year left at 4.2 . |

that helps in getting the center log jam dealt with if they moved vinny, so i'd be fine with that as well, even though my morbid curiosity wants to give him another year. |

Flyers could use someone there |

You would be better off picking up a pee wee hockey player than a Canuck for a shoot out. We honestly are the worst when it comes to SO. |

When the Flyers had possession in the offensive zone and Vinnie could set up he is still effective, his shot is still top notch
When the game is in transition and on defense he was bad
Maybe on a team better at possession he would thrive
Van might be a fit except I don't think he wants to play out west? |

Canucks have Henrik Sedin and Ryan Kestler, why would they shop for a second line center? Why would Lecavalier waive his no trade to go there and why would the Canucks want him? |

So give up Kestler, gain Lecavalier? To me it doesn't make sense. |

No they want to get younger. They are hoping for a player a pick and a prospect for Kesler. we are going nowhere this year so it is time to get younger.
I know Viny is old ,but if he can fill Keslers roll for two years while our prospects develop then that's what we need to do. |

Edm: Sean couturier + van 2nd rounder
Van: 3rd overall + phil 1st
Phil: kesler + gernat
Thoughts?
I know Philly prefers to give up schenn first but I wouldn't put up a lottery Pick for schenn. |
