He looked inconsistent at center, as well as wing. I'm not against keeping him at center and leaving Couturier as the "third" line guy, so long as the third line has skilled wingers on it.
The whole "Schenn isn't effective as a winger" thing, to me isn't true, or at least not fully proven as true. - Jsaquella
He's exactly like Vinny... better from the middle-right side of the ice. Too bad they already have so many RW's. |

I think what makes me leery of moving Schenn -- I guess i wouldn't feel good about it until i saw the deal.
Right now, i just can't picture a deal with Schenn where the Flyers get equal value, get better, and doesn't open a hole somewhere else.
If there is a deal out there where we do that, great. But packaging the Schenn brothers...are we really upgrading, then? There are already three defensemen in the system who, if we are lucky, might be able to really help us. Is Schenn going to get us something better than we already have?
I guess i don't see that. But maybe there is a deal out there. I just would have to see it, I guess. - AllInForFlyers
Your right in that I don't think the flyers intend to package young players/picks for a dman. Especially forwards. The organization is too thin to be packaging anything bit the fat veteran deals |

Why in gods name does the NHL let their players in that dumb tournament
Who the hell even cares about it?
With the money these guys make it's nuts
Such a Mickey mouse operation the NHL - Just5
Because the players want to be in it.
It is very important to Eurpoean players, maybe far more important than even a Stanley Cup.
A lot of European players come to the NHL solely because they can't make the same cash at home. If the NHL banned participation, you'd probably see some top talents leave and head to the KHL.

Would anyone trade the Schenn brothers to Phoenix for Brandon Gormley and Yandle? I like B. Schenn but that would certainly fix the Defense and open a spot for Laughton. |

Yeah, an idea I saw kicking around on twitter was intriguing. It would see the Schenns, plus the 17th pick, head to Calgary for TJ Brodie and the 4th pick.
The idea was that Burke loves the Schenns' grit and the Flames are one of the few teams that actually have a bit of a surplus of mobile guys who are good with the puck on D (Russell, Giordano, Wideman) and Burkie might be willing to sacrifice one of them for a guy he's coveted for a few years in B Schenn.
It might take more pieces, but that's the kind of deal I'd be good with for the Flyers. |

Ban the participation. If they leave for the khl then good riddance. NHL has to protect its product.

The NFL all star game is a joke. Players take the World Championships very seriously. It's not a tourney that Europeans skip.
I'd like to see them not participate in ANY international tournaments, Olympics, World Cup, all of them.
But it's not realistic. I doubt that Mario Lemieux signs off on losing Malkin for nothing. Ditto for Leonsis losing Ovechkin for nothing. |

I think it's pretty fair, as is. I certainly wouldn't add a second rounder. |

Maybe Philly throws in a second in this years draft or Nick Cousins. Or maybe they swap Gormley with Murphy although Murphy has a history of injuries and Gormley is better. |

See, that is the kind of deal I'm leery of -- while Yandle is a good player, and Gormley is a good prospect, have you truly made yourself better?
Are you keeping Vinny, then? If not, yes, you probably can move Couturier up, but what if Scott Laughton isn't ready? If you move both Schenn and Lecavalier, and Couturier doesn't get you 50 points, you are absolutely effed at center, and you still need a 2LW.
That is what I mean. A deal for Schenn for defense -- yes, we can do it. But are we gonna be able to,score goals?
And just as importantly: What we'd be asking Laughton to do is some seriusly heavy lifting, taking on top 6 forwards and not getting lit up. Doesn't mean he can't do it, but man. That just makes me nervous |

Yes, I think you've made yourself better.
Yandle drives offense from defense and Gormley would immediately be the best prospect in the Flyers system.
You might take a step back, but in the long run, they'd be a better rounded team. |

Oh ya if they can get rid of Vinny then by all means do so. Unfortunately I don't think he wants out. With Morin, Hagg, Ghost, Yandle and Gormley we have a heck of a future blueline. Raffl would play that second line wing while Akeson plays third line wing. |

I wouldn't be asking for a 1st. I'd be expecting no better than a 3rd or 4th rounder.
To me, it's literally addition by subtraction. - Jsaquella
Oh, I agree. I'm thinking a 4th and Flyers add in a 5th if they don't eat $$$. The more $$$ they eat the higher the pick, but nobody is giving a 1 or 2. |

I don't mind risk, and i do understand we might take a step, back.
Man. There's some risk, there. If Gormley busts, then you are effed there, too.

Is trading up 13 spots worth Schenn or do you consider brodie an upgrade over Luke? |
