We should of never traded Richards or Carter. Flyers would be still playing right now - Streit2ThePoint
it doesn't matter what we do it won't work out. take chicago, for example: win the cup and decide that your goalie is expendable (not that he isn't good, you just don't need him) and have a young guy waiting who turns out to be more than capable. compare that to the flyers: lose the cup because your goalie is terrible and your D lacks depth; we go and sign a cosmonaut to play goal and end up with the highest paid bunch of pylons in the history of the nhl on D......the sports teams in this town are jinxed |

Theoretically how far do you move up in the 1st round if you trade the 17th overall and Laughton? Would #8 from Toronto be possible?
My thinking is to package the two and get the best LW available, that way you address the need of a 1st line LW and it helps the logjam at Center by moving Laughton for help at a weaker position. |

Is trading up 13 spots worth Schenn or do you consider brodie an upgrade over Luke? - jstross
Not sure I would even do that deal if we got to keep our pick and draft twice in the first round... at least not in this draft.
Brodie is better than Luke, but adding another smallish left hander to the current group would make me nervous, even if it improves mobility and puck moving. |

i'm not against trading but with the departure of gus i think if they trade they have to address defense |

It might be worth keeping Schenn to see if that ridiculous rumor that Dallas would offer a $30 million offer sheet. That's a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. |

They should be able to pick a Gus type guy via FA for not a whole lot of money and not have to burn assets via trade to replace him in my opinion. |

So who do we think is the best young puck moving Dman the Flyers could acquire in a fair deal for the Schenn's and Pick #17? |

Yeah, he should give his head coach that stress and hair loss trying to fit Lecavalier into the line-up, plus hang onto the headaches that come with the cap crunch of paying a guy who doesn't fit the coach's system and is a two way liability $4.5mm - Jsaquella
Explain how easy it could have been to trade Andrej Meszaros' 4 million 1 year contract last summer? Our sophomore coach is going to have to find a way. During his rookie stint, I haven't agreed with every decision made. |

VL has value to an offensive oriented system. It seems pretty clear that he wasn't happy with his role for the Flyers this year. I see no reason why a 20 goal scorer, if healthy, couldn't be dealt.

Vinny Lecavalier... what a great hockey name. Too bad he could never live up to it -- even in his prime. - Tomahawk
How long can someone possibly live in the past or use the same post repeatedly? Are we talking about Vincent Lecavalier or Alexander Daigle? Whatever expectations Vincent Lecavalier had when drafted, that's not his fault. We knew who we were signing when we did 11 months ago. |

Maybe Philly throws in a second in this years draft or Nick Cousins. Or maybe they swap Gormley with Murphy although Murphy has a history of injuries and Gormley is better. - Slipperypickle
Murphy's pretty much penciled into their lineup next season -- he's one of the reasons why Rundblad couldn't get into the lineup -- Tippett loves him.
I do think Phoenix will move a dman this summer, but I think it'll be Schlemko or Michalek, not any of the guys we've been talking about. |

I dont think there is a "fair deal" to be made when giving up that much for one player. You have Subban and Weber who are worth that but would probably still cost more to move. I dont think there is a guy available out there other than those two that is worth a penny more that the Schenn Bros alone. Suter, Karlsson... but by no means do I expect guys like that to even be available. |

Lecavalier has to agree to the move and truth be told, none of us know what he wants to do. If you truly believe Lecavalier has value, how can he not have value here? There is a fit here. We've seen the line combinations. We've made up some of our own. The "No fit here" line is a copout. |

Isn't it kind of ironic to accuse somebody of living in the past while defending a guy at the tail end of the career bell curve? |

What do we know?
A big part of VL coming to Philly was Laviolette and his offensive style system.
Berube plays a much different style than Lavy.
VL had a poor two way season and was moved down to the 4th line.
The question is, IMO. If he can find a place he'd be happy with, why wouldn't he leave?

and jvr and bob and gagne and williams and sharp and forsberg and....
would they be they still be playing now? who the hell knows. probably not. it's been 39 years, why would THIS year be any different. - hammarby31
Crazy thing is that I'm extremely optimistic they will win within the next couple of years. I trust Hextall and think Mason is the guy that can get them there. One or two pieces plus the maturation of the kids and this team is more then capable. |

Just my thoughts, but LeCavalier at this point is a sack of poop and the Flyers would be damn lucky to get him off the team without having to take on another albatross contract or pay part of the salary.

Not if he's still productive.
Ask me what I think of bring back Kimmo Timonen. Go head. Do it. |

BSchenn and Vinny both need to play center. Vinny would be a $4.5 million 4C. - Feanor
This isn't true at all and another copout. Brayden Schenn can and has played both Wing and center. |

You act as if this is the first time we've seen a guy's production wither once they got here... Amonte, Roenick, Briere, Hawerchuk, Coffee, Primeau, Hatcher, Beezer, etc.
Kimmo's not even in the conversation, because he's still good. |

Way short of what he was originally touted to have been capable of... even in his best years, he always left you wanting. His star is more on the level of a Simon Gagne than a Jean Beliveau, and several light years away from the MJ of Hockey. - Tomahawk
Just picking nits here, how many guys actually live up to the pre draft hype? I know vl didn't look so hot for most of last season but thats no reason to denigrate his career. |

I don't "act" like anything. Kimmo Timonen is at the end of his career and wasn't a 6 million dollar player when we resigned him last summer. |
