well since we brought up VL why are we so quick to want to dump him? if a player has one bad season should we just get rid of him
- 2Real

Beause him and BSchenn both need to play 2C and he was very poor at ES for most of this season. It's not a vendetta against the guy. I was happy enough to sign him and try playing BSchenn at LW but it didn't work, the kid really wants to play center and performs better there. He did well this season playing with either Hartnell or Raffl as his LW, but not with Vinny.

you know, ive got a slightly worn rob scuderi to show you. ill actually give you a 4th round pick, AND rob scuderi, for your seventh rounder.

That's far too much for us to get. You must take "The Artist Formerly Known As Vinny", Nick Grossmann and Jay Rosehill

Need to make changes now to win cup in the next year/2/3.
Support youth movement and building from within.
Dump salary now to have room later.
Addition by subtraction.
No fit for Vinny.
Vinny is old and declining.
Someone will take him.
Vinny can't skate anymore.

Did I miss anything? Ok. Next topic.

Edit: But, he scored 20 goals.

He can't let anything go. All of us have argued with him about VL all season. He dismisses everything we say and tells us VL is still a good player because he has a history of scoring goals.

It's over and done. Then, when one of us makes a comment about VL to another person, he will jump on it and write three paragraphs.

I stopped arguing with him about it because we just kept going in circles.

- PhillySportsGuy

Vinny is still a good player though. You can't expect other teams to want him if he wasn't.

i do not know why another team would want him. i dont think you can separate him the player from the deal that he is on. the deal is the poison pill.

simple move vinny to wing and he either learns it or can get shipped off to toronto
patrick marleau had no trouble switching from center to wing over and over vinny just needs to quit being a baby

Some other teams are not nearly as well off as the Flyers are in terms of centers, especially offensively gifted ones.

okay. well, 1. you cant use the mindset of "at that time". because things like the back injury and whatnot have crept into the picture. so that irreparably alters the current perspective.

and 2. while its not 100 percent conclusive, its at least a strong indicator that no other team out there was comfortable giving him the contract the flyers did. (at least another team that vinny wanted to go to, more than the flyers. which is relevant, given whatever NMC he has).

i could be totally wrong about this. but if there is a GM out there that will take that contract on without shipping an equally crummy one back in a pure hockey trade barring a crappy team wanting to get to the cap floor, he should have his head examined.

im not sure. i have no rational basis for my feelings, but for some reason OSing just feels dirty to me.

but ryan johansen is the real deal. for columbus to lose him would be devastating to them as a franchise, especially after all the steam they gained this year.

steven stamkos broke his leg horribly
i guess no one would ever want him on his team
vinny has a whole off season to heal up lets see how he does next season before he throw him in the fire

sorry dude, i just see a stamkos/vinny analogy as far too strained to have a lot of merit.

for the record, i dont think he is total garbage. but that contract is.

at least you got 20 goals out of your troublesome contract. the pens have a nearly 4 million dollar a year paperweight.
