Vinny Giroux Simmonds
Hartnell Schenn Voracek
Raffl Cooter Read - 2Real
if vinny could make that work. then yeah. right on.
although i think within 3 or 4 games, you guys will be screaming that VL (frank)s up that first line.
but i think in that environment, you get to see schenn take his step forward. i dont ever think hes going to be a superstar, but he can be a decent second center in the league. |

If they go into the season with Vinny slotted on the wing it's going to be a longggggg year. |

vinny is a winner and he brings great experience to this team that desperately needs it - 2Real
You do know that Vinny missed the PO's 5/6 years before he got here, and 9/14 years in his career, right? And Brad Richards, MSL and Khabibulin won them that Cup? Vinny had about as much impact on that run as Fedotenko and Andreychuk.
Edit: not to mention, if the Flyers D doesn't go down all at the same time, Vinny doesn't win squat. |

so vinny has control of the team that's put on the ice in front of him?
so it it giroux's fault the flyers got clowned in the first round? |

The point is 1 Cup win a decade ago doesn't make you a winner or clutch player... I didn't see the least bit of on-ice leadership or clutch from him during the Rangers' series. He was blind-passing and turning the puck over as much as any of our kids. |

i dont hold any of that against VL. hes had a damn fine career. he definitely is a professional, and by all accounts will provide solid leadership. i get all that.
but the cap logistics related to the on ice contributions are borderline rough now, with the likelihood to become horrific |

i get that you want to play the whole like billy guerin type of influence on the team like the pens did. and thats fine. but you dont turn around and give that guy a 5 year deal pushing 5 per. |

he didn't get 5 per he got 4.5 mil which is more than fair for a player of his experience and current skill level |

i said pushing 5 per. which 4.5 is pretty close enough to. but okay. we shall use 4.5 per.
even if i concede that it is more than fair for a player of his experience and current skill level, i would hang my hat on the word current in that statement.

well, for some reason .5 is typically considered enough to round up, but okay. touche on that one
but daniel alfredsson at 5.5? one, i believe it was a smaller amount than that.
and 2. daniel alfredsson at 5.5 for one year, or vinny at 4.5 for 5 of them. you keep trivializing the length of the term in your evaluation. that is unfair. |

Berube stated many times last year he felt Raffl would develop into a scorer. Was he blowing smoke? Possibly. However, I really like him playing the left side with G and Voracek.
I believe Hexy is smart enough to realize he has a bunch of forwards 25 or younger who are still growing and haven't reached their peak. We'll find out soon enough. |

He's a winner. I mean sure it's been ten years, and sucks at 5 on 5, in his own end, can't play anything but center and got dropped to 4th line twice in the space a month, while playing less effectively than an AHL call up with 2 NHL games under his belt, but he won a Stanley Cup before the NHL had a cap |

I think that's a bit extreme. Even if his playoff numbers were bad, he still helped them in the regular season. I bet the flyers win that with home ice advantage. |
