Any thoughts on Daniel Winnick?
I think he'd be a solid guy for the left wing spot on the Couts/Read line.
Strong guy, skates OK.
Like Downie without the tendency to blow up, maybe? |

Bill, thanks for remembering. I was at the game on that beautiful day. The two things I still remember about the game are the penalty that Bobby Orr took near the end and Bernie's kick save on Ken Hodge. I remember more about the aftermath. The subway ride home was a sing along. The neighborhoods were swarming with carloads of partiers. There was drinking, smoking and streaking but as far as I saw nary a fight nor a broken window. People were estatic that the miserable sports jinx was broken. I get the feeling that the younger fans are sick of hearing about the Bullies' Cups and hero worship of those teams. I totally understand that its time to move on. Hey, I was waiting for a hat trick in'76. So nobody is more frustrated than me. But I console myself with those great memories. I loved the '80, '87, '04 and '10 teams too and with a break here or there they would have been great champs. Can't warm up to the current group though but I'm hoping Hextall has the formula to start making new memories. |

I like him. Not sure how much offense he will ever produce but he has size, moves the puck a bit and is pretty reliable for a young Dman. - bmeltzer
Do you think he gets a solid look at camp this year with trying to get younger and quicker on the back end? |

Playing, and quite well at that. Domi looked really good yesterday from what I saw. |

If I was a forward and the Flyers called me, I'd absolutely listen -- you'd have to be blind to not realize there's jobs to be had/won, especially on the left side - AllInForFlyers
He would be looking at what happened to Raffl and thinking, that could be me with a two year, $2.2 million deal in the NHL. |

Gardiner seems to be on the outs in Toronto. There has to be some change with that team player-wise, since Randy didn't get the axe. I'd take him on Philly to provide a bit more speed on the back-end. Depends what they want for him though. - Rocktane
VL for Gardiner. Leafs need their own McDonagh for Gomez to match the Habs. |

But one thing I also believe is that the Flyers are only about two seasons behind them, developmentally. Need the players we all know about to continue to develop, but if they do, I could see the Flyers making a legit run in two years

I was not alive for either cup unfortunately. My dad tells me they were two of the best days of his life. I hate how Flyers fans seemed to be divided. The fans that embrace the past and the fans that seem to hate it because they feel like hanging on to it is somehow causing the Flyers to lose in the present.
Flyers fans should be proud of that team. It represented this city perfectly. The fact that a lot of those guys are still around has nothing to do with the Flyers winning or losing.

Exactly -- man, there's jobs to be won on the Flyers and the Phantoms. You do some good things, you can stay and play for at least those two years

It would be a good match, but it would cost a ton. Probably Reily, Kadri 2014 1st |

The word always was that Thornton wouldn't waive for a Canadian team -- doesn't want the pressure.
But that was when he was younger; maybe now that he's older, he'd feel differently |
