It would be a good match, but it would cost a ton. Probably Reily, Kadri 2014 1st
- PhillySportsGuy

Blockbuster!
I really think SJ wants to make some changes and it might take less to get it done.
Like Gardiner in place of Morgan Reily maybe?

VL for Gardiner. Leafs need their own McDonagh for Gomez to match the Habs.
- PhillySportsGuy

Carlyle wasn't a fan of Gardiner back with the Ducks and Randy was quoted as saying during his player end of year meetings that one Dman in particular felt he was among leagues best and deserved more minutes" Leafs would want a ton for him, minimum first pick. I would like to see him paired witha solid defensive Dman. I would like him, but not at price Leafs would be looking for.

The word always was that Thornton wouldn't waive for a Canadian team -- doesn't want the pressure.
- AllInForFlyers

Theres no pressure in Toronto. They wouldn't have unreasonable expectations if they acquire him.

I doubt he's moved. He just re-signed there. I think both would like to have him back.

Despite their choke, they aren't far away from a cup. They could use a little size on defense. I know they're very pro puck possession, but they could use some bigger guys to help defend the Kings.

If I were the Sharks, I wouldn't do the deal without Reily. I don't even like Kadri, but he's a young forward they'd be willing to part with.

If it were me, I'd ask for Reily, a prospect and 2 first rounders.

I don't think it's confirmed, I was poking around on other threads and many people think he will play tonight.
- FlyersGrace

According to TSN and SN590 it was confirmed with the front office.

I guess it depends on how much they want to get rid of him.

Where are Horvat and Domi?
- PhillySportsGuy

They're playing. I don't know what they did during the season but if I was Vancouver and PHX I'd be cringing because they're coming up small so far.

They had solid regular seasons. I watched the CHL version of 24/7. The problem with that team seemed to be their weak defense. They were constantly bringing in defenseman to try and help.

Yeah, they've got a thoroughbred in Gardiner that they're insisting on reconditioning into a plow horse... love to snag that kid.

That's awesome. We have our 6-month old girl, and she's fantastic.

You mean with B. Schenn centering him since we'd need to trade Giroux to fit his cap hit? Not too interested.

They have Zadarov and Basso, after that it's a bunch of solid stay at home Dmen as far as I can see.

I was not alive for either cup unfortunately. My dad tells me they were two of the best days of his life. I hate how Flyers fans seemed to be divided. The fans that embrace the past and the fans that seem to hate it because they feel like hanging on to it is somehow causing the Flyers to lose in the present.

Flyers fans should be proud of that team. It represented this city perfectly. The fact that a lot of those guys are still around has nothing to do with the Flyers winning or losing.

- mickel25

Has "old thinking" cost the Flyers Cups? Maybe. But I'll make excuses and say the Flyers ran in to a few dynasties along the way: Canadiens, Islanders and Oilers. And the Red Wings were nothing to sneeze at either. More recently, I think management has been too impatient and too reactive to what other teams are doing rather than just setting a course and sticking with it. As far as embracing the past, how can a fan be criticized for it? When you witness true greatness it makes an indelibe memory.

1) Gus got a fair chance. Lavy really talked him up last summer. Gustafsson came to camp with a starting job to lose, lost it and didn't do enough to earn it back after the Flyers changed coaches. Players like Gustafsson and Philip Larsen -- an almost identical defenseman to Gus who has been in the same boat of being in and out of the lineup in both Dallas and Edmonton -- tend to have trouble staying in NHL lineups.

2) Rasmussen will do what's right for him based on what his agent recommends.
