Interesting, thanks.
Any players beside Rasmussen in Europe that you think might be worth a look? - Tomahawk
I've heard Zherdev is looking for a team yet again. |

I havent been happy with his hiring but since he spoke about building through the draft im anxious to see what he does at said draft. - JoeRussomanno
The Stanley Cup and six or seven years he spent as the Kings Asst GM outweigh the Flyers ties. If the guy is competent, who cares if he used to be a Flyer?
Only a moron would place the fact that he used to play for and work for the Flyers higher than his ability, because he was a sought after candidate for other GM jobs. In fact th interest from other teams likely played a role in his hiring. |

So I was considering video games tonight. I may actually have to turn on the tv and watch this game. We'll see... |

Remember this is a fan base that boasts innumerable people who take it as a personal affront when an ex player has success somewhere else.

This news about Price (frank)ing blows. Seems like Montreal is going with the kid Tokarski. I guess the thought process there is although he doesn't have the experience Budaj has, his ceiling is much higher.
I would think Krieder gets the Chara treatment every time he touches the puck tonight. |

DON'T YOU KNOW?
EVERY OTHER TEAM DOES EVERYTHING BETTER THAN THE FLYERS!
29 OTHER TEAMS SECRETLY SHARE THE STANLEY CUP EVERY YEAR AND DON'T CUT THE FLYERS IN BECAUSE THEY DON'T HIRE OUTSIDERS! |

Bill, thanks for remembering. I was at the game on that beautiful day. The two things I still remember about the game are the penalty that Bobby Orr took near the end and Bernie's kick save on Ken Hodge. I remember more about the aftermath. The subway ride home was a sing along. The neighborhoods were swarming with carloads of partiers. There was drinking, smoking and streaking but as far as I saw nary a fight nor a broken window. People were estatic that the miserable sports jinx was broken. I get the feeling that the younger fans are sick of hearing about the Bullies' Cups and hero worship of those teams. I totally understand that its time to move on. Hey, I was waiting for a hat trick in'76. So nobody is more frustrated than me. But I console myself with those great memories. I loved the '80, '87, '04 and '10 teams too and with a break here or there they would have been great champs. Can't warm up to the current group though but I'm hoping Hextall has the formula to start making new memories. - 2731color
that was a beautiful day and an experience I will never forget...we walked from the spectrum to city hall and the whole city was out screaming |

The amazing thing is had the Flyers had home ice against the Rags, the stars were aligned for them to get to a Cup final even though they are far from a complete team. |

I do care for the simple fact this will be the third ex flyer in a row to be named Gm. I want to see them do something different. However take that away and thinking on things hextall says things we like to hear, yet again, will it come to fruition? I'm not sure what teams have confirmed they actually were trying to hire hextall other than the flyers themselves. Like I said I'll give him a chance would've loved to see him win it all as a player it be great if he can do it still as a GM. |

He's one of the better Russian players to have never tried his hand at NA hockey... but EP has him under contract with Magnitogorsk until 17/18.
Simon Hjalmarsson seems to be the top EU UFA this year:

Lars Eller's linemate in Swedish junior hockey. He ended up getting drafted in the 2nd round by the Blues after they took Eller in the first round. He's always had good hands but has seemed to be better suited for the big rink.

How about Martin Ruzicka? - jmatchett383
EP has him signed w/ Traktor of KHL next season... I'd take Extraliga points w/ a grain of salt... not a very good league. |

Okay. I'm just spouting off names. I know little to nothing about European hockey. All I know is that slow goons like Shea Weber will never be able to have any success on the larger rinks, right? nudge, nudge
