From the Kings board:
I was encouraged by their play given the short turnaround after two brutal 7 game series, as well as the fact that it was a noon game against a more rested team. The NHL essentially did everything they could to give Chicago the upper hand in this game, so I didn't expect a win.

That being said, they're going to need to come out with a vengeance on Wednesday if they want to win this series. They'll have some time to rest, but you know Chicago is going to play a really strong game, so LA needs to be better than them. If they can do that then I like their chances in these playoffs. If not then they could be in trouble.

How did the NHL know that taking goals off the board for CHI would motivate us to score again and win the game?

How about diving is automatically 4 mins??

Hawks stay perfect at home, win Game 1. Plus trying to make sense out of the NHL :On The Blackhawks: Fox Chicago:http://bit.ly/1gHw0oq

If there's no penalty called on the other guy - yes, I'd go for that.

Humor aside...my hope is the Hawks do NOT follow your advice.

I'm of the mind that says it's either a flop or a penalty - can't be both.
- StLBravesFan

I think it can be both. But it shouldn't be every time. A guy can legitimately be tripped, and still embellish the result. Just once, I'd like to see the ref call just the dive though. I'd be curious to know how long it's been since a diving call was made in the NHL without a coincidental trip/hook/slash/etc. I bet it's been a while.

Hey refs...grow a pair.

I'd be more concerned about who Bowman brings in this summer to hold down the #2C spot for next season...

Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong, but I'd think they'd want a natural center. Maybe they bring Regin back, but they have just Toews and Kruger. Smith and Shaw strike me wings who can play the center position. Iginla isn't one either, and at 37, not sure he would want to be one.
- MartiniMan

Eh, I was just spitballing an idea anyways. It's not like it would really happen, but I can't think of anyone else who would come cheap for a season that could hang on the 2nd line...

Yeah, I am glad to be back. Not that I don't enjoy hanging around in nice weather getting loaded on all the booze I can drink and staring at topless European women on the beach, but I can't do that forever. I have enough poop to do around here.

Like getting my last wisdom tooth pulled this morning, and burying one of the cats this afternoon.

Well, at least tomorrow should be better...

- EKolb13

Sorry about your cat.

It can be difficult to call live sometimes, so maybe there should be some sort of points system like with technical fouls in the NBA. Infractions could be assessed upon video review and accumulate toward a suspension at some point. Not for borderline sale jobs, but clear dives.

I read all the time but don't post too often. This was one of your better write ups JJ. These are way more fun to read when you dig into stats and analyze the games than just offering lines ups and predictions. Keep the good work coming!

It has been so long that I believe the rule is that diving can't be called by itself. Could be wrong, though.

He's a guy at the point of his career to approach with an idea like that, for sure. Whether he's the guy, I don't know, but the thought process was right (other than the asset giveaway portion, of course ).
