Totally agree on the scheduling bullsh!t. The reason is probably television. Games three and four are both now on Memorial Day weekend. To get that they had to spread out the games. Still crap, though.
On the disputed goal, I thought they put it behind them well and kept going. Also, fun to watch Q have a fit out there. - mohel
The Kings get an extra day to catch up and rest before a critical game 2....and then an extra day back home. Pure BS. I don't care about the Rangers-Pittsburgh start and the ramifications of that. So what....that was the east coast and flying to and from NYC to Pittsburgh doesn't hold a candle of LA to Chicago. What a gift the Kings got, and why nobody on the Hawks is asking out loud about this, is puzzling to me. If I were Bowman I would be slamming the NHL for this favoritism.
hawks bounced back nicely especially after giving up a goal on a horrible read by Rozsival. Guy needs to sit....NOW.

Whats crazy was the 4 games in 6 nights to start the NYR-PIT series. Now that was messed up. - cryptical77
Back to back...yes.
Fact is, your kings got a HUGE break. When you go 7 games, you have no break. that's the down fault of it, and the supposed advantage the other team DESERVES. Game 2 is the game that pisses me off. Should be tomorrow.
if the Kings lose this series, they can't blame the NHL for not giving them some huge breaks. |

That was messed up, although the Rangers were somewhat at fault because MSG had availability issues during that time frame. |

I didn't mention this yesterday but the Hawks made more clean breakout passes to the middle or cross ice yesterday than they did probably the entire Minnesota series. |

There's no doubt about that. Noticed that all game long, and it made the game have some good flow to it. |

It's strange why the league would favor LA though. A second straight Original 6 series would far favor the league's ratings than LA against either Montreal or NY.
The more likely reason is that the league is mindful of a couple things: (1) it draws better on the weekend; and (2) it draws better when it isn't going head-to-head against the NBA. And while there is a game on Wednesday, far better to schedule Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday-Monday, then Monday-Thursday-Sunday-Tuesday (or some other combo similar to that). |

Lol, you guys took the easy way and misunderstood my question....
I meant playoff wide...
Note he has not allowed a goal in the second period in 8 of 13 games. Note that he has made 12 or more saves in 7 of 13 games. Combined second period save percentage is 95.33% He has two 17 for 17 periods and a 13 for 13. The 16 for 17 wasn't bad either.

Disagree on the NBA. They easily could have scheduled yesterday at 6 pm or 7 pm. Instead they went at 2:20 face off and went head to head against game 1 of the Pacers-heat series. I don't think the NHL cares about the NBA. Those fan bases aren't similar and rarely do you have a crossover.
The only bonus out of these BS breaks we may see Shaw for game 2, and if not, probably game 3 thanks to Gary's extended breaks. |

Last follow up to the other thread from me....
If my only two options are Elliott at 3yrs 7.5mm or Miller at 5 yrs 30mm, it's an easy call for Elliott and giving Allen a chance. If it doesn't pan out, we could always go for Niemi after next season
- stljam
Agree with the former.. not the latter (even though I assume you're joking about Niemi) |

Didn't I read that there were scheduling conflicts at Staples and that was the reason for the spread out fist week?
It happens when you don't completely control your building.
Jeez - so far we've spent about as much time kvetching about the striped shirts, the Toronto review, the announcers, the schedule - did the Hawks actually lose game 1 and I missed it? |

They all were bad and needed to be pointed out. Every single aspect.
scheduling.....awful
refs.....HORRIBLE. How about the 3 blatant trips after the Williams elbow that went uncalled?
Toronto review....a pure circus.
announcers.....the D list team. Two top markets get the D list team. those guys make the public news channel team look like network anchors.
My favorite quote..."Peter Regin is such a crucial part of this team...." So crucial he's played in all of......3 playoff games including yesterday out of 13. Way to do your homework. |

Let's not forget, Bettman can care less about original 6 matchups. His entire purpose is to sell the game to non-markets. He would rather see Phoenix playing Carolina for the SC than CHI-MTL. |

So for an "elite" world class goalie, Qiuck sure had rebound issues. The knigs did well to get possesion for the most part. Maybe it was a rest issue, maybe the Hawks and Crow are in his head. Can't wait for Wednesday. |

A potentially important event in the Kane/Toews extension talks. Their agent is Pat Brisson, who also reps Crosby and Malkin. Brisson had been mentioned as a potential candidate for the Pittsburgh GM position; but it was reported today that he has no such interest. It has always appeared that Brisson has a good relationship with the Hawks, and getting a new agent (or agents) into the mix at this time could have thrown a bit of a monkey wrench into the negotiations. |

I'll call BS. He wants to make money for the league. The league makes more money with O6 and certainly when they are assured of drawing higher audience numbers. LA just doesn't guarantee you that. The dream scenario for the league is probably NY and Chicago, since Canada is likely watching even if Montreal isn't playing. |

There's a difference between pointing out and obsessing.
Hawks CANNOT CONTROL the scheduling, CANNOT CONTROL incompetent striped shirts, CANNOT CONTROL the announcers (who, by the way, are probably not part of the conspiracy to throw the series to the Kings).
The Hawks CAN CONTROL only one thing - the most important thing - how the play. If they play Blackhawks Hockey, they have a very good chance of beating a very god LAK team - no matter how incompetent the refs or how much rest the Kings get or how much good publicity the Kings get from the national broadcasters.
Hawks are in the final four - again - let's deal with that. |

Nobody is obsessing. I just pointed out some odd occurrences. I am not one for believing in conspiracies. However....this whole thing is puzzling to me.
I was very impressed with most of the game yesterday. Just bench Rozsival and they will be good to go. |
