That is exactly why when I read all this Canadian media coming to Crosby's defense I laugh it off. idiots. Defending him to the death. If I'm Malkin I'd come out publicly and berate Crosby, Neal, Kunitz, and the rest of those clowns. he can't carry them alone.
Anyone who would start a team with Crosby over Toews played underneath power lines as a kid, and ate paint chips. They should be put in a room with padded walls.
Great players are supposed to make those around them better...I can't say Crosby does that. - SteveRain
When I was in Pittspuke on Friday I saw an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review by a guy named Joe Starkey who wrote a column entitled "Crosby Led Penguins Down the Drain." He absolutely fries #87 and takes a very supportive position for Malkin.
I don't know how to post the article on here and am too lazy to learn. But it is well worth reading. |

Exactly, and kudos to MnGUMP for seeing it. This is why sometimes trades for guys like Campoli or Rundblad loo stupid, but they have some basic talent that fit the hawks' system and might allow them to flourish.
Case in point: Oduya. OK but "flawed" player elsewhere. A very, very good player in the Hawks' system, because his skills uniquely fit it. - John Jaeckel
The key caveat is that the system has to work and you have to have enough of the quality parts within the system already in place, which Chicago does.
Take the Blues as an example, they got rid of guys like Perron and Stewart because they didn't fit hitch's system and insert them with guys like Ott and Lapierre. The players and the system created 2 goals a game, simply not enough in most playoff series. |

We are certainly lucky that our leaders are actual leaders, who take responsibility.
The most interesting part of the article are some stats toward the end:
"Crosby had one power-play shot in the entire Rangers series (a weak perimeter wrister in Game 6). How is that possible? He has one third-period goal in his past 41 playoff games (the one that made it 6-2 in a blowout of Ottawa last season).
The last four close-out games for Crosby:
Montreal Game 7 in 2010, Philly Game 6 in '12, Boston Game 4 in '13 and Rangers Game 7.
In those four games, the Penguins' best player totaled zero goals, zero assists and a minus-6 (still checking on his Corsi rating)."

Looks like Justin Williams agrees with JJ.....
“A rivalry only exists when the other team wins,” Williams said, per LA Kings Insider. “We haven’t beat them yet. We have that set for us and we need to rise to the challenge.”
Williams pointed to Chicago’s fast defense as part of the reason for its success.
“If we’re just a little off every game, we’re not going to be good because they’ll expose that,” he said. “They’ll have guys swinging, guys stretching and if you give them time they will make you pay.”
Personally, I have a high level of respect for these Kings and will not think this series is over until the final phucking whistle of the fourth win or loss... - mohel

looks like we see him back in LA for gme 3...that would be about 3 weeks out...which is about right for grade 2 knee or ankle sprains...
high ankle sprains usually take longer to heal...5-7 weeks sometimes longer
I had one of those in my younger days and they are painful...full recovery took almost 8 weeks...but then I am just a mere mortal.
Not a 22 year old fine tuned hockey player with high pain tolerance. |

Way off topic, but who do you credit for finding these players for the system? Stan? Senior? The scouting department? Q? I'm just curious because, if it is Stan, then I think he deserves much more credit than he is given. Because as much flak as we all give him (and some of it is deservedly so), he does seem to have an eye for finding players who fit the Hawks' system pretty well. - QStache

I watched the whole series pretty much. I saw him do things on the ice that I'd never seen before, which I would call taking the easy way out. The stats are bad, the optics when you watched closely were even worse. |

Regarding the quote contest, I think we need at least one nominee from the trade deadline. I did a little research and uncovered this gold:
"...that 6 year contract at 6mil per for a goalie with barely average Save% and GAA on one of the league's best teams is very tough to comprehend..."
"Nice, looking forward to watching Regin and Zus the rest of the season, it should make for a quick exit come playoff time."
"But how long can Stan and company continue to sit on their hands while the other contenders in the West just keep getting stronger? "
"(frank) you, Stan Blowman. (frank) you very much. Thanks also for the 8 Dman roster, you jackass."
"Stan Bowman in 12 minutes: 'We made our moves. We feel like Handzus and his 5 year plan to "not die", will help us win another cup.'"

looking at the way these conf finals are shaping up...
its a distinct possibility the habs never see the bell centre again and this series ends in a sweep Sunday nite with G4 between the hwks/kings the following monday...
this suggests the rangers get more than a week off before the hawks and kings settle things.....
maybe they eek out a win in NY but the stark contrast between netminders says this is a long shot |

If it's not going to go at least 6, it may as well be a sweep. Hopefully the long layoff can kill any momentum/mojo The Rags would gain in the process. |
