Many think so, but some think it might be a high ankle sprain instead.
- mohel

Mo, it's a lower body injury.

That's all we need to know.

Or, at least, that's all we're ALLOWED to know.

John your bias is making your articles lose credibility. The Hawks were outplayed for the vast majority of the game, the second goal scored was a fluke and Corey Crawford bailed the team out a number of times. I hope the rest of the series plays out like this game did, the Kings will take them in 5 no question if it does. The Hawks looked frustrated and tired, they are extremely lucky to have a 1-0 series lead right now.

"Chicago won in a number of other important statistics: blocked shots, takeaways, giveaways, power play conversions, penalty kills."

Of course they had more takeaways and blocked shots, the Hawks rarely had the puck so that ruled out any chance that the Kings had of stealing it or blocking it. The giveaways stat is also linked to puck possession. If I were a Hawks fan I would be worried, they need to be a lot better if they don't want to be embarrassed at home on Wednesday.

You are so much better off being a Maple Leafs fan - you never have to worry about winning anything and never will. Your biggest concern is probably about whether the Loafs bring Colton Orr back next year to anchor their 4th line.

Games are won on the scoreboard, always have been. Just look back at the last 10 games the Hawks and Kings have played against each other. One of the teams seems to win most of those games.

If you're losing faith in JJ's "credibility" perhaps you should stick with the Star...or Pension Plan Puppets.

Chicago won puck possession in the first, lost it in the second, and was even in the third, despite playing with the lead. The Kings had 2 unblocked shots in the last 9:15 of the game. You're post is a joke. Don't come back.

Since 2013, they have won a lot, including a Cup and a President's Trophy (as little as that may mean).

This team has learned how to win thru adversity - they didn't really know that yet coming out 0f 2010.

They had several "bad" things happen to them in last year's play-offs - the Hjalmarsson disallowed goal, the tying goal with 8 seconds left against LAK, down 301 to Detroit, Keith's suspension - and they played through all of it and learned how to win no matter what happened.

That's the legacy to this year's team.

- StLBravesFan

F'n A...
I think we are all seeing something special unfold. This team just keeps rolling. I had doubts this team could make it back to the Cup. Not that they didn't have the talent, but the Cup is the toughest trophy to win. To defend it is even tougher since every team you play gives its total effort to knock off the champs. Toews is on a mission to repeat and CC?? Jesus the guy has gone jedi master in the net and is a stud. Enjoy this brothers for it is special. Plus the talk about the scheduling.... who cares. Hawks will take care of business no matter what day the games are played.

I still think it could be a deep thigh bruise that just won't loosen up. Stoner's knee caught Shaw flush on the thigh, at least to me when I see it. Bad, bad charley horse. That said, you'd think he'd be back by now from that.

Never thought I'd be saying this about Brookbank, but totally agree with you. Evidently, Q does not.

Just check out the TOI report (under stats) for the game.
You'll see who Q "trusts" and who he doesn't trust.

Leddy, Regin, Versteeg & Bollig had 4 shifts each in 3rd.
Sharp had 5.
Roszival had 6.
Smith, Kruger and Bicks had 7.

If you back-read yesterday's blog posts from the game and after, several guys on this board have packed Leddy's bags and shipped him off. The vitriol was sort of unreal -- you'd have thought Leddy had bagged their significant other, took pics and sent them to the Trib for publication.

I'm sticking to my "hope Nick gets moved for something that will help us." Leddy is just Q's whipping boy on D.

- savvyone-1

It was terrifying to watch yesterday. Numerous bad decisions by Rozsival. The goal was squarely on him as he hesitated to challenge at the red line, was beaten, and then Leddy was forced to cover for him. I don't get it. Brookbank has been eerily consistent this playoff year and should be given a chance to play.

The rest.....doesn't surprise me.

Hi Savvy! I thought Nick played fine yesterday, and continues to look good on the power play. He also covered for Rozy several times with his speed. Were there mistakes? I'm sure, but it does certainly appear that to many on the board it is only possible to see the negatives. Perhaps they are all correct - many here know more than me about the intricacies of defense play - but it seems to me that he has become the new Handzus.

Back to back...yes.

Fact is, your kings got a HUGE break. When you go 7 games, you have no break. that's the down fault of it, and the supposed advantage the other team DESERVES. Game 2 is the game that pisses me off. Should be tomorrow.

if the Kings lose this series, they can't blame the NHL for not giving them some huge breaks.

- SteveRain

Kings don't blame anybody but themselves for losses unlike some in here who blame everyone and everything for the hawks misfortunes.

I don't blame refs or the NHL. Again...I'm pointing out the obvious which in this case favors the Kings. The only lemonade the Hawks may get is getting Shaw back.....but the Kings could get Regher back as well.

These 2 teams are very equal. I wanted the Ducks. Shut down Perry and Getzlaf, and you win.

Yep, could be several things. I'm sure he is somewhere between playing Wednesday to being forced to retire because of this horrendous injury.

Just a wild guess....given that he just started skating, I suspect he'll return in game three or game four. But as long as they are winning, the Hawks have the luxury of letting him heal.

John your bias is making your articles lose credibility.

Let me stop you right there...

I heard "west Coast bias" on Sirius the days before game and there kept playing up these years of seventh game wins for the Kings...forgeting about the 5th game loss last season when the had tails between their legs and used the boo-boos they had as the excuses...

So don't show up here with bias crap....

and your use of the "outplay description."
You do know the NBC announers (just like in College basketball games) try to give bright hope descriptions so both fan bases stick around.

Your team was backpedalling turning and stuck with a whole lot less breakouts because they were looking for the puck...the Kings had trouble leaving holding on to and getting to pucks..they only had more outside long shots...
not what I call out-playing.

Outplaying means you out possession out chance and out-shoot so don't over-Gaborik what happened to your team. Their Boston style outside trailer shots weren't strong cycle possessions and you got schooled.
Accept what happens and move on.
You have a nice team that could win this series, but get a grip on relality first...

Your possess a great team that doesn't whine...but you as a fan are.
Learn from your athletes.

How many times did the Kings try to leave the zone only to have it taken away? My count it must've been 4 or 5 times. That's a takeaway my friend.

Hawks don't have many losses to lay blame off of - at most, we have to justify tight wins instead of blow-outs.

I don't read the Kings board, but my guess is hockey (and sports) fans are the same all over: with certain player exceptions, can't stand to believe that their heroes could actually lose unless some source outside of the team made it so.

Rozsival should be taken behind the shed and put to rest. His hockey career is over. Slow, bad decisions and leaving Leddy on an island way too often.

Brookbank needs to play moving forward.

Hi Mo,

By no means did #8 have a great game -- but overall it was decent. Having to try and cover for what #32 was doing out there was in-and-of-itself, a full-time job. Guys just seem to get their rocks off bashing the guy and as you read, I've given up the ghost, hoping he gets moved.

The total b.s. I read yesterday was beyond comical, with a few even talking about Kitchen's pro career. You couldn't even call Kitch a journeyman NHLer (as I would with Q) -- because he bounced back-and-forth from the AHL to NHL. So that's a real great measuring stick right there.

I saw Q's response on Leddy during the presser. Too bad someone didn't ask him about Sharp's play since he only skated 5 shifts in the 3rd. I guess although we all claim to be Hawk fans, we (just like Q) pick out our favorite whipping boys and rail on them.

Instead, I'd sure like to see us pulling for ALL of the guys that hit the ice in the Indianhead -- especially since NONE of us have any say over who dresses or is scratched. Sure, I'm not happy to see Kane dragging Zus up/down the ice or Leddy having to cover for Rozy. All I can really hope is that they do the best they can and at the end of each tilt, our boys come out on the plus side of the score.

It's just semantics, but you say outmatched, I say outplayed. To me, outmatched implies that was the best the Kings had, but couldn't get it done. They were outplayed for at least half that game, but I definitely expect a better showing Wednesday after some rest. Whether that better showing translates to a win remains to be seen.
- PancakesPenner

At what point, after a five game series loss last year and an 0-3 record in the regular season this year and yesterday, are the Kings outmatched?

I have no doubt, they'll play better and win at last a game (maybe more) in this series, but . . .

I agree... I like LA and the style of game they play. Reminds me of the stud Hawks teams in the 90's. Dump it in and pound the hell out of them on the fore check. Sutter is a helluva coach and gets the most of out his guys. Overall they play a clean game. Brown can get dumb once in a while, but that's it. Was surprised to see Justin Williams throw that ridiculously high elbow yesterday. I think the reason there isn't a bunch of on ice schit with these teams is there is a mutual respect for talent between them. Best thing about playing LA again... the Sutter post game press conferences.
