Don't you think if McGinn or Alderson or whoever in the minors could do it they would have been called up by now. McGinns had plenty of chances to try and stick and they don't see him as a fourth line option. Possibly Holmstrom but he is a center and had an ACL injury. I am not saying i don't want to upgrade. Just saing it is not as easy as "waive this guy, use this guy, get this guy." And yes they can wait till after guys are released but then your still competing with other teams and it is not a given they sign with you. - J35Bacher
Rinaldo's guardian angel is gone... Homer's not there to guarantee him a spot on the team anymore. I'd hope his meager contributions, and significant drawbacks, are finally up for review now. |

I wish Maroon would have worked out. Watching him play for Anaheim you see the potential he had and would have been a solid 4th liner for us. |

Bill do you have anything coming up that will deal with this years draft prospects? - PhillaBully
Yes but will do it shortly before the draft. |

I haven't seen him play so the ghoul could have his energy and speed without the dumb. Or I could just be dreaming. - FlyersGrace
I've seen him play about ten games at least. He moves between the second and third line, gets second unit PP time and kills PIMs. He cut down on the penalty minutes this season. A good portion of his minutes are fighting majors. He had like 10 more minutes this season than Madison Bowey and no one is calling him dumb.

They had a bunch of kids who didn't want to play in Adirondak, didn't like losing, 4didn't like the coaching because they were tough on them and acted directly to disrupt the team. One guy begged home and they traded out the other two. |

Bill,
Other then the D prospects are there any forwards who could make an impression in camp for a 4th or 3 line role. I know Cousins had a down year. Not sure if someone like Tyler Brown or Alderson or McGinn would be an option. Of course Laughton and Leier could push for spots but maybe not. I am looking at ways to get younger and add speed and skill without trying to spend on free agents. |

Re: Rinaldo
I'd rather waive Rosehill and keep Rinaldo as the spare forward. |

Not sure if this was mentioned today or yesterday on here but did anyone notice the Steve Ott tweet from the Art Museum steps yesterday?
I could see him here. Mostly because I hate him with the fire of a thousand suns and he's such a typical guy we would get. |

I wouldn't be interested unless it was for fourth line money and Laughton was moving to wing. He still wins faceoffs and kills penalties and is a good character guy but I think someone will pay more then fourth line money |

Free agents i would be interested in for one reason or another with what they earned this year.
Of course Price would have to be right and depends on if other moves or made then it could change my thinking but just of the top of my head these could be at least looked into.
Devon Setoguchi - 3mil
Nikolai Kulemin - 2.8mil
Brian Boyle - 1.7mil
Ryan Jones - 1.5mil
Beniot Pouliet - 1.3mil
Mason Raymond - 1mil
Thomas Griess - 750k
Andy Miele - 675k
TJ Brennan - 600k
Carter Hutton - 550k
Brian Gibbons - 550k |

Might not have enough money to sign all of those guys - PhillySportsGuy
Not all. Sorry should have been more specific. Just names to look at for roles like 3rd and 4th line and back up goalies and guys who can move up and down lineup. |

Is it too much to ask for a fourth line that can do more that punch helmets and throw hits?
God forbid they have some PK ability, and can actually handle the puck with any sort of skill. Dale Weise, and Moore are worthless turds.
With all the tools Philadelphia has from money, and an attractive FA destination to yield marginal NHL talent even on its fourth line is kind of laughable.
Where would Rinaldo and Rosehill fit in on the remaining 4 teams in the playoffs? |

I'm not sure. I think he fills the same role but is a different player. In my opinion you can get more minutes out of him than Rinaldo but Goulbourne is a ways off.
He's got way better hands than Rinaldo and could find a third line spot in the NHL eventually. He has a lot of talented players taking minutes in Kelowna. He's a second tier scorer in the WHL. Rinaldo never put up points in the OHL. When I look at Laughton I see an NHL player. Goulborne is going to need AHL coaching to get him to the show.
As far as penalties go, in my short sample, his PIMs seem more reactive whereas Rinaldo's are more proactive. I have a lot of hope for him far beyond being Z2. |

Yeah he would be ok. I don't think Emery will be back just because of money and you don't want to pay too much for a goalie that might only play 20 some games. I like Griess a lot as he had some good numbers this year as a back up. |

From what I read, people hated the selection, but he seems like a guy who can play 4th line minutes but contribute in other areas as well. Playing on the 2nd line on a stacked Kelowna team is more impressive than what Rinaldo did in Juniors.
It would have been nice to get him later in the draft as there were still some decent guys left in the 3rd round, but we just gotta move on. |

I wonder if there are any other forwards currently in the NHL who couldn't score in junior. Guys like Carcillo and Dorsett were ppg players down there. Even meat-heads like Shelley and Cote had enough skill to score goals in junior. |

Hopefully he'll get more minutes next season. With 17 goals this season in a supporting role maybe he can step up next year with a chance to do more. |

Yeah, Rinaldo's rise to full time NHLer is a bit of a head scratcher. He must be a heck of a coachable kid. |

Just realized this....
2007 NHL draft.... Flyers took Kevin Marshall two picks before PK Subban.
Can't make this poop up. Marshall is a better dancer, and would more likely be on Soul Train. So there's that. |
