I know we'd all like it, but I just don't see wholesale roster changes.
Maybe if Botterill stays and he has had differences of opinions with Shero, it might be the only way. But if a new guy comes in from the outside, it's going to take some time to get to know what you have. And a few weeks before the draft and free agency is not enough time to evaluate every single player in the organization fully. |

That might actually have some legs. Tavares would be a great 3rd line center here |

Sutter= has an attitude of thinking that he is WAY better than he is and that hard work is not a factor in his game. This point was proven by how he played in the playoffs when he actually worked for his ice. I am not arguing he has offensive skills I am simply saying he does not work hard enough to be a positive factor for this team. Also he weighs 113 lbs and is softer than a baby's ass. |

He's coming off an injury, so we'll get him at a rock bottom price. |

Seems like you are using his improved play in the playoffs against him? Usually works the other way. |

A lopsided trade proposal just doesn't feel right without Eric Tangradi involved in it. |

2010 the Cap dictated
Trading - Byfuglien , Ladd , Versteeg , Sopel , Eager , Fraser
Not retaining via FA or arbitration - Burish , Niemi , Madden
And guys like Campbell , Brouwer and Kopecky had to go away after 2011 for cost reasons
Over next couple years youth was plugged into lineup. Some rose to occasion and became quality contributors for Hawks (Leddy , Kruger , Shaw , Saad , Smith , Crawford) while others didn't work out for Hawks for various reasons (Skille , Olsen , Hayes and Pirri) and team moved on from them. Jury is still out on Morin (Q doesn't seem to be a fan so he could be out door this summer)
During this time depth/role players acquired via trades (Stalberg/Oduya/Frolik) or FA (Emery/Rozsival/Brookbank) helped fill out roster
This past summer cap adjustments dictated a few moves (Frolik and Bolland) and again picks were acquired for long term replenishment of system
Read this and couldn't agree with it more. Pens fell in love with Gritty role players and Chicago flipped them for picks to keep the youth in the pipeline. |

That's exactly why I'd like to see the hawks assistant GM come here.

"Ryan Miller has been steady and his recent decline is certainly a product of being on an all-time worst Buffalo Sabres team this past season."
Except that his numbers with the all-time worst Buffalo sabres were better than his stats every year since 2010. As his time with the Blues shows, Miller wasn't being held back by Buffalo's defense. |

Listening to MM, aparantly Stan Savron (sp) claimed there is a top player that would not mind being traded away from Pitt. I think those names would be 71, 87, 18, 58? If the rumor is true that's 71 and 18 the most likely candidates. |

it would be impossible for me to entertain the notion of crosby wanting to be traded. |

Would entertain Perron, Hendricks and a pick. Would then go and offer sheet Reilly Smith and obviously try to re acquire needed picks depending on the offer sheet. |

MAF as good or better than any golaie available. is he rask, lunqvist, price, quick, etc. no. But what would you get equivilant to MAF in trade or FA that would save you much money. Hillier at 4 mil? rather have MAF at 5. miller at 6? rather have MAF at 5. Skill sets aside, MAF is a great lockerroom guy, generally a fan favorite (with the exception of this blogger who, I don't know, MAF must have run over his dog). Moving him would only be for the sake of moving him and barring some sort or miracle trade, the pens will get no better and probably worse in net. |
