You know what we need? An actual game plan. I would trade anything for one. A game plan from top of the organization down to the team on the ice. A message of how we draft, develop and win. You don't start a "culture change" at the ice level without a culture change at the mangement level.

When Detroit drafted Yzerman they decided to build and play a certain way and they've stuck with it since and look at them. A few cups and consistent playoff appearances no matter who is playing on the team.

Why would Franson sign for 2.5 when he can go to arbitration and make more? He will get 3.5 or more from arbitration and if so, the Leafs will probably walk away from it.

For sure, if he goes to arbitrations and get that type of coin, then I say good-bye as well.
I gave him a little raise from his previous contract but a 1.5 mil raise is lot for someone who's expected to do lot but didn't.

All top teams who have a plan in place from management to the ice level.
Simply put they draft players and develop them for the style of game they play. If they fit they stay, if not then they move them. Detroit let Fiddler, Filppula both walk instead of signing them for their asking prices. Leafs don't do this currently.

They have no actual vision and just make moves and hoping it all fits.
