playing better offence would help. bring in bieksa for added leadership and to play with dion. resign/extend franson to a 1 yr, 2.5 mil contract and traded him at the deadline. by that time some of the d-men from the marlies should good to replace him.
phaneuf bieksa
franson gunnarsson
rielly gardiner
gleason - dmnted
easily the worst 2nd pairing in the NHL |

I don't think Stastny is the answer either. I think the better option is to use any money to move around the D. Bring in a partner for Dion if we're keeping him and go from there.
Our center position isn't ideal but it certainly isn't the largest detriment to the team. - Aaron_85
Our faceoffs were terrible this year, just a fact |

I think Bolland is slightly better and I said cheap.. and if its similar to Bozak 4-4.25 ..keep the term short. otherwise let me go.
Either way sell high on Bozak he will not have another season shooting 22%
JVR and Kessel can play with anyone,.. Bozak is nothing to that line - senstroll
Play with anyone? Why did the line not do very well when Kadri was on it? Bozak, like it or not, fits on that line for now.
Better to make a large upgrade on the D than to make a smaller upgrade at center. (Unless of course you get a Toews somehow...) |

meh, couple good saves and the bozo's wouldn't have been playing catch up after 5 or 10 mins - Garnie
ah so true being down 2 or 3 to nothing doesn't help
also if lupul and kadri scored more
i can't wait for training camp to see who the leafs picked up during the summer.

Chicago and L.A are getting big contributions from their kids. they actually let them play unlike what that idiot Carlyle does. - RogerRoeper
i have absolutely 0 faith the leafs make the playoffs until randy is gone from the bench, the shortened season was a fluke. |

I see nothing in Bolland that says he's better than Bozak. Bolland isn't even good on faceoffs. He's a 3rd line centre.
Let Holland be one of the top 3 centres imo. - RogerRoeper
I agree he is nothing special... but neither is Bozak imo
and Bolland for 2 years @ 4.25 is better than Bozak for 4 more
I am just trying to see ways the leafs can cut the Bozak\kessel cord |

They play their prospects because thats all they can do. They have their top 4 defense ready and top 2 forward lines ready that all the money goes to the top guys that THEY have NO CHOICE but to play their kids who are getting paid low salaries, but regardless of the fact that is a smart tactic as some of those kids are taking advantage of the opportunity and making a name for themselves.
Prime examples: toffoli, saad, maata, etc. |

because both kadri and kessel like the puck.
as the season goes on everyone and their mother catches on that every power play is kessel coming in from the left side and shooting...just pure stupidity really. |

Bozak has 3 more. And we know Bozak is making 4.25 million. We have no idea if Bolland will get that Chances are, he'll get more.
Bolland is worse offensively and worse on faceoffs than Bozak and gets hurt a lot more.
I have no issue whatsoever in 3 years for Bozak @ 4.25 million. He's underpaid if anything. |

the few games Kadri played with Kessel was not enough to know... is Kadri a #1.. probably not now.. but Bozak never was..and if you can move him when his value is at an alltime high you do it.

there is no doubt bozak now is worth more than ever.
will kessel ever recover from that trade or ask for a trade himself, that is thy question |

Why would Franson sign for 2.5 when he can go to arbitration and make more? He will get 3.5 or more from arbitration and if so, the Leafs will probably walk away from it. |

So if the leafs were "smart", they would trade him while he has value... since we (frank)ed up with grabo, kulemin and macarthur |

Bozak is 27. I'm not seeing any need to move him at all. His stats last season were very solid. He's a good fit for wingers like JVR and Kessel. |
