way i see it, if you sign a good UFA centre, that makes someone else on your roster (be it a winger or a centre) expendable through trade, and you can use them to upgrade elsewhere on your roster. i'm thinking about it more in a big picture/general asset management sense. but there needs to be a pretty thorough plan in place in that situation.

Since the difference between Kadri/Bozak and Stastny isn't as big as the difference between a guy like Getzlaf, Toews, Crosby etc... I see no point making the switch. Might as well go with Kadri/Bozak over Stastny because they are younger, cheaper and Kadri has...or potentially has...upside left.

Leafs would be better off, in my opinion, over paying for a veteran Dman like Boyle...if he even has the slightest interest in playing here, which I doubt.
