Why would Franson sign for 2.5 when he can go to arbitration and make more? He will get 3.5 or more from arbitration and if so, the Leafs will probably walk away from it. - LeafMan
i already dont include franson on the team |

Bozak is 27. I'm not seeing any need to move him at all. His stats last season were very solid. He's a good fit for wingers like JVR and Kessel. - RogerRoeper
he is 28 now
By the time next season ends he will be 29
dump him

So if the leafs were "smart", they would trade him while he has value... since we (frank)ed up with grabo, kulemin and macarthur - DougGilmour_93
if leafs traded kulemin after that 30g season that would have been great
if leafs traded macarthur for a 2nd or more at anytime that would have been great
if leafs didnt buyout grabovski after signing him to a 5 year 5.5 mil contract that would have been smart, you know, maybe just get a 7th round pick for your 50+ point center playing with 2nd/3rd line players.

The thing is, if he decides to go to arbitration and exceeds the 3.5 mil, the Leafs have only two options, Let him walk or keep him, they can't trade him.
If the reward is under 3.5mil, the Leafs have to accept it and they can't trade him. |

the leafs just never manage assets well
they re-up players instead of getting anything for them just to buy them out later |

it starts from the top.
and when your top is a disaster, what do you expect.
that goes for randy too, hes a nightmare. |

its almost as if you should use more than the eye test like Chicago..and the data tells you its time to move a Bolland |

I am sure 90 percent of the people here on hockeybuzz that are leaf fans WELL BEFORE grabo resigning to that ridiculous deal of 5-5.5M dollars would of rather have seen him get traded at the deadline instead of being resigned for that amount and term. Burke had his lapses as well |

Myers didnt really have a good season, i highly doubt hes worth that much. If Schneider only got 9th pick.... and schneider is more valuable than myers... highly doubt myers is worth that |

i am the other 10%.
i was happy they resigned him, it was a million more than he deserved, but at the time, it was bozak, grabovski and connolly...they needed grabo.
problem was, after wilson, randy took over and completely depleted the guys confidence. cutting down PP time, and playing them as a third line mostly matched up vs other teams top lines.
no need to go on about this, burke signed him for too much, and nonis and randy went about it completely ass backwards and got exactly what they deserved....nothing in return for such stupidity. |

Weber or Doughty would be eaten alive here, under Randy's systems.

Chicago did not resign him or keep him because they knew they needed the cap to spend on toews and kane later. They made a decision, it was either bolland or bickell that they send away, so they kept bickell. Even though bickell is overpaid for what he brings in reg season
Hawks have a good top 5 in longterm: sharp, saad(paid nothing), toews, kane, hossa
They picked up versteeg where florida picked up majority of his salary, so chicago is paying him nothing basically, excellent pick up to fill some other voids.
Chicago's defense is set on: seabrook, keith, hjarm longterm... rest is w.e |

Our faceoffs were terrible this year, just a fact - DougGilmour_93
I understand that. That's fine to me. It's a small fine tuning for the centers. I much rather a substantial upgrade on D opposed to changing centers purely for face off stats. |
