i am the other 10%.
i was happy they resigned him, it was a million more than he deserved, but at the time, it was bozak, grabovski and connolly...they needed grabo.
problem was, after wilson, randy took over and completely depleted the guys confidence. cutting down PP time, and playing them as a third line mostly matched up vs other teams top lines.
no need to go on about this, burke signed him for too much, and nonis and randy went about it completely ass backwards and got exactly what they deserved....nothing in return for such stupidity. - big_dion
I understand but for long term view, for the type of player grabo is and for that $$ and term did it make sense? Was grabo substantially going to improve himself or marginally stay in between the 50-60 pt margin or go on a decline? Wasnt really worth it in my opinion since he was then misused and bought out to sign clarkson who is worse

I understand that. That's fine to me. It's a small fine tuning for the centers. I much rather a substantial upgrade on D opposed to changing centers purely for face off stats. - Aaron_85
D upgrades are needed
as is a new game plan for how our D men play D. |

Chicago did not resign him or keep him because they knew they needed the cap to spend on toews and kane later. They made a decision, it was either bolland or bickell that they send away, so they kept bickell. Even though bickell is overpaid for what he brings in reg season
Hawks have a good top 5 in longterm: sharp, saad(paid nothing), toews, kane, hossa
They picked up versteeg where florida picked up majority of his salary, so chicago is paying him nothing basically, excellent pick up to fill some other voids.
Chicago's defense is set on: seabrook, keith, hjarm longterm... rest is w.e - DougGilmour_93
what about all that leadership?
how can Chicago still win?

i feel he would have been producing 50-65 points for the next 5 years if in a #2 role with TO.
even if that meant kadri was put on the wing (where he is better suited if you ask me). If not, toss grabo on the wing, it worked quite well for Washington this year before he got hurt.
and yeah....clarkson, great.. lol |

it starts from the top.
and when your top is a disaster, what do you expect.
that goes for randy too, hes a nightmare. - big_dion
Agreed! Agreed! Agreed! Nonis is a nightmare and has finally been exposed after riding Burkes coat tails. Randy is nightmare too and has no idea how to utilize the players given to him.
And I actually thought Shanny had enough hockey sense to get rid of these idiots.
0% leafs make the playoffs next year.
For God sakes our first line center is not even a top 2 on any other playoff team. It's pretty sad actually. |

Just have a bid. Whoever takes clarkson can pick between a FREE PRIZE: Orr, Gleason, Franson. (frank) IT TAKE EM ALL! |

Can't do it so quick like that. It's not a (frank)in bandaid.
You're gonna change an organization, have the right pieces in place first. |

Time for Nonis to trade Reimer as soon as the tourney is done, get whatever he can for him.
Bring in a solid Vet like Bryz or Brodeur to push J.B. |

The whole team, forwards included, need to be in on that new plan. I hope something can happen and they add a meathead or 2 that does just D stuff. |

Well he didnt perform in the playoffs either and he was on for a couple of goals when we crashed and burned.... so who knows maybe it was a good thing he departed, these are just some of the problems that needed to be corrected regarding our forwards playing defense as well and that problem is still evident... so the problem was not fixed yet, still more to it |

yeah the forwards have some talent, but when randy has the forwards at the hashmarks, the D men are open to shoot, pass, have a cup of tea. whatever floats their boat, its a god damned joke and even more of a joke that randy still has a job.
paperweight coaching, follow the puck into the corner, eat some timbits, (frank) me. |

We keep coming back to offense. The problem is defense - not just with the defensmen. Everybody forgets that defense starts with the forwards and ends with your blueliners. If the forwards don't defend than your defensmen have almost double the responsibility. How about we get forwards that can play 200ft rather than put ALL the onus on our defensemen. |

randy basically gave grabo's line 8-11 mins a game for the final 20 games of the season, then playoffs start and they are vs #1 lines for boston playing 18+ a game.
they did well until the last 10 mins of game 7, where the D was exausted, the goalie was crap, and our coach couldnt even call a timeout ...because he was too stupid to do so.
i dont blame the grabo line for the meltdown anymore than i do the rest of the team or coaches. |

team game
all 5 players and the goalie are just as responsible as the other.
D man pinches a forward gets back, etc, etc etc.
leafs were poop d wise since game 1 and things never got tweaked, thats bad coaching. |

I would say the whole team was "doing well" until the final 10 minutes. |

Brodeur who has been horrible?
why do people think players need to be pushed?
Bernier had an amazing season with Reimer not pushing him? Now he needs an overpaid worse backup to Push him to what? .935?
is that how it works
the leafs will not have a better backup than Reimer |

All we need is to call up MacIntyre (sp)... that's all we need. The guy is serviceable enough. I agree, no need to seek an overpaid veteran goalie. |
