But what do you want more. B.Schenn to play center and keep developig or playing vinny on the wing where he wasn't really useful or the 4th line. If the Flyers priority is to let Schenn keep developing and becoming more consistant then you want him playing center on an everday basis. That's why I move Vinny. Yes we aren't dealing from a position of strength but you can't have it both ways. Can't want the Flyers to let the kids grow and become more consistant but then still keep Vinny and make schenn move back and fourth from center and wing - J35Bacher

Completely agree. Homer built this team with way too many centers. Someone has to go.
G
Schenn
Vinny
Cooter
Hall
Laughts - Jimmygrazz
In all fairness G was a wing and became a center. And Having depth is not a bad thing at center. i just don't think the centers they have are as easy to move to wings. Like carter was a center but the way he played he was a better winger and because he liked to shoot more. G is a better center then wing because of the way he is a playmaker. |

Of course.
You can poop in one hand and wish Vinny Lecavalier away in the other. See which one happens first. |

The real thing you worry about with Vinny is whether or not he's not a stylistic fit here and/or he was just injured last year OR is he simply a shot player at this point of his career?
The Flyers need to convince teams he's not a shot player and that won't be easy based off of last year. Teams ain't gonna line up to do the Flyers and Ron Hextall any favors. |

It's not doing any favors. Your market his 20 goals, leadership, cannon of a onetimer on pp. Vinny had over 20 suitors it was reported when he chose the Flyers after the buyout. GM's have egos. Someone will think he can get another 20+ goals out of vinny. Now your not going to get a first round pick but teams are dumb. Nasvhille trade a first for Paul Gaudstad. Washington traded Flip Forsberg for Martin eRAT. I think a deal can be made. Just hope vinny waives NMC. |

Considering he had a back injury and spent time playing out of position and on the 4th line and yet still scored 20 goals, I think you can make a pretty good case that he still has something in the tank.
I think Hextall can convince some team that while VL isn't a good fit for the Flyers, who are deep at center, he could certainly help a team who has holes to fill at the pivot and/or needs a shooter for their pp.

Correct. Just using Nasvhille as example they had 4 players with 20+ goals and one was weber. You don't think they could use some offense. What about a deal of Vinny for Del Zotto and Carter Hutton. You get a back up goalie and lowrisk/high reward dman. Nashville Hired Lavy who recruited Vinny and the system Vinny wanted to play in. I think that deal would be a win for the Flyers. |

Kopitar is up in '16-'17. He'll want to get paid. Not saying he'll kill their cap, but if they like him, it'd behoove them to have some flexibility. - johndewar
I suspect by then that they would have let a number of their more expensive vets leave in UFA and replaced them with some of that enviable system depth at forward. Richie's got a bit of a back-diving contract as well... maybe that makes it easier to move him toward the end if they get in a bind. |

If they are patient and build through the draft, they are absolutely moving in the right direction and I have no problem taking a step backwards next year if it allows them to contend soon after. Plus the 2015 draft, by all reports, is supposed to be incredibly talented and deep, so if you have to take a step back 14-15 is the year to do it.
Considering that both Ghost and Morin will likely only be in their first full seasons in 15-16, I don't see them being a cup contender then. However by 16-17 and for the next few years, they have a very good chance to be one of the best teams in the league if they stay patient and draft well. - BiggE
