TIOPS is saying that the team is doing homework on Guy Boucher.
Really hope that's not true. i find it hard to be true when they dont have a GM, but i generally like TIOPS so i'll take his word. - SuperHenderson13
If true, either Botterill is getting the job, or Morehouse/Lemieux/Burkle are completely full of poop about their reason for hanging on to Bylsma, and the new GM being the one to make the decision on coaching.
This GM job can't look all that great to candidates.... Sky high expectations, a cap mess, a team business president who wants hockey input, and being somewhat being dictated to by ownership.
So far, the Pens have tried to get Crosby's agent to run the team, and now they are looking at an old coach of his to coach them.
I'm starting to think that this Pierre McGuire crap was pushed by the team today, to make whatever decision they make look better.
I'm more patient than most around here, but this isn't being handled well by this organization.
Sorry, rant over.

I tend to agree with you, always in Crosby's shadow. Malkin wants to be the top dog wherever he goes. - flyerdude17
That's just simply not true he has no desire to be that top dog because that means he would have to talk to the media something he doesn't like very much. |

If I'm shopping Neal I'm looking for something like what Anaheim got for Bobby Ryan. I feel that's the most reasonable comparable. A young, cheap top 6/9 forward and a first round pick in the top half of the draft.
Try and shed some cap space while replenishing the farm system. The extra cap space should allow you to sign a 20-25 goal scorer to play with geno, along with whoever comes back for Neal. Remember, we won the cup with Malkin centering talbot and fedotenko. Get younger, cheaper, quicker, and hungrier. |

Send him to the Ducks for Devante Smith-Pelly and Luca Sbisa. DSP is a RFA who made $870K last year. Sbisa has 1 more year at $2.175 lleft, then he's a RFA. It would bring youth and around $1 million in cap relief this year to the Pens, then they would be free of Sbisa's portion after this season. And it would be interesting to see what Neal could do with Getzlaf and Perry. No one else seems to be able to stick with those two. |

It was reported by Savern. He's not a "gossip" guy like Rossi. So if true, it has to be one of three guys.
Letang: He's reportedly a "sensitive" guy. Has take a ton of heat for his poor play the last couple of years. Wasn't happy about being demoted off the top PP.
MAF: Tired of being hung out to dry by a poor defensive team. Reputation is in the cellar and his name has become a punchline around the league. Could very easily look for a fresh start.
Neal: He's either tired of nailing every Pittsburgh hockey slut or tired of playing with two of the best centers in the world....WTF? I guess we'll have to go with the hockey slut theory. - madmike71
Listened to Josh Yohe interview yesterday on my ride home and he said the Pittsburgh locker room very quiet and there was undoubtedly a rift amongst the players. Fluery was the only player keeping them together. Throughout the conversation although he never came out and said it but it was certainly implied that James Neal was the guy looking get out.
It was Yohe and Madden so take it for what it is worth. |

Make it Smith-Pelly and Palmieri or Etem, and you got a deal. Would rather see the Pens get two young wingers with potential who can contribute right now. Penguins have young defensemen in the system that need to be able to have growing pains in the NHL, and bringing in another young defenseman would hinder that. |

Yeesh... so late to the party with the gif... So a tribute, to the future of player safety in 10 years after the 200th concussion lawsuit goes through in all pro sports.

I guess you guys are seeing what we saw here. Busted into the league and at times dominated for us his rookie year. Then every year after that he seemed to plateu and not get any better and was one dimensional. Completely relied on Richards to feed him. I give him credit tho, as far as pure snipers go he's one of the best. It just seams tho his streaky play, lack of discipline and two way game out way what he brings offensively. I would just move him and bring in someone who plays a better overall game. |

Hahahahah, so that's why you guys made one of the worst trades in the history of the NHL.
Smart thinking. |

So, you want two pieces for him? Judging from the way many people talk regarding him, he is only worth a sixth round pick.

I would expect a big return for Neal. I think you're foolish if you don't. As said in this article you don't need to trade him. That would be my mentality as a GM with every player. |

Since when is the Rooney rule in effect in the NHL for players? That's all I have heard about in this room in the past week. |

Then there alot of fools on this board. When you hear some of the comments, you would think a low pick is his worth. |
