So, you want two pieces for him? Judging from the way many people talk regarding him, he is only worth a sixth round pick. - Oneonta Penguin
Like someone said before, i expect around the same return Bobby Ryan got. 2 young roster players and maybe a pick/prospect. |

He got a top 6/9 guy in Silverberg, a pretty good prospect and a first round pick. |

Then there alot of fools on this board. When you hear some of the comments, you would think a low pick is his worth. - Oneonta Penguin
Whoever brought the Bobby Ryan trade was good. He was a consistant 30 goal scorer and he netted a good young player, a good prospect, and what ended up being a 10th overall pick.
Ryan's and Neal's numbers are pretty much the same, and as we saw in the Olympic selection process, the attitude towards Bobby Ryan is pretty lukewarm for some GM's.
Another comparable, Jeff Carter in 2011 netted the Flyers Jakub Voracek, a top 10 pick and a 3rd rounder.
Like Neal, Carter wasn't perfect, with the gossip about partying and whatever happened in Philly. |

there are many teams that have a tough time scoring that would love to pay neal his less than 6 million cap hit and get 25-35 goals a season, I would think edmonton, nashville, phoenix, maybe winnipeg, maybe st louis even would be into him...
edmonton, id do neal for eberle straight up, maybe have to throw in a low round pick
nashville, i dont know their team that well, maybe patric holmquist, although i know hes a center...wed need a top pick coming along with him
phoenix, i know we need forwards but I would take yandle in a heartbeat, then either move martin or just dont resign niskanen
peg, i know kane isnt the most upstanding team player but maybe the change in scenery and being on a contender would help his attitude, I know or at least assume ladd isnt available but hed be a hell of a pickup if the peg would swing it
st louis, i would love to have tarsenko or schwartz, I know they are both young, and although theyve had good seasons are somewhat still unproven, I would think wed need a pick coming back too...
thoughts? |

Absolutely nothing Malkin has said or done, or anything those closest to Malkin have said support that - rival22
Look at the numbers when Sid is out.
There is your answer.
I have long said-- What a predicament to be in. How unfortunate to have two players of nearly the same skill set and style of play-- Yet only one puck.
You gotta' trade one or the other BRO.
Good news is one of them will fetch a huge ransom.
This lineup as is-- CLEARLY is not getting it done. |

disagree, cant help but think that if any team had the chance to get sid, but would have to take on geno, that they wouldnt think twice, could be wrong i guess |

You won't come close to getting full value or the "huge ransom" that you think in a capped era.
You will be getting more pieces in picks and prospects than you would be getting in actual players due to this cap.

I would expect a similar package for Neal. Man I think the Flyers stole that deal even though Carter has gone on to win a cup. Voracek is a beast. |

Is that directed at sid? I don't think that will ever happen. I think the franchise gets full value and then some from his presence. They haven't won a cup but he certainly fills the seats and sells their product for them. And lets not kid ourselves this is a business. A business has one goal to return a profit |

Yeah.. winning the Calder, his first Art Ross, and Conn Smythe trophy WITH Crosby in the lineup sure shows that they don't work well together.

That he does do; however, will people keep lapping up failure after failure. All he does is cry and have a sour attitude. They won't win with the current formula. You might be able to sell tickets and fill the building every night, so I suppose the owners " win " -- They made their money.
And that is what it really comes down to-- Are you San Jose? Are you happy to a round maybe 2?
Or do you want to WIN?
This business is about 2 choices-- Do you want to WIN? Or make MONEY?

Difference is we've won a cup with this core. Crosby doesn't cry more then the next guy. Everyone goes to the ref when they feel they were just obstructed which by the way I believe he gets more then most players in the league. That argument is tired bro. He also will be collecting his 2nd mvp trophy this year. Go ahead bring up these past playoffs it's really the only thing you have going for your argument. |
