What do you expect? He chased the money. Didn't care about winning or losing. And look where that got him.
It's in his character. - bloatedmosquito
which makes him not our best dman this past season..

I think it's more then that
Erhoff is a very good puck possession player
good on both ends of the ice
and while I can't argue he threw in the towel I think he would be solid on a playoff contending team - Trilla
Ehrhoff is a good player that doesn't want to be here. However at this point, Myers is the better player.
Let's put it this way. Last season, I'd say 80% of this board (fanbase) wanted Myers gone.
Right now, I'd say that's at 10% |

he would be... but to say he was our best dman last season is wrong... Myers over the entire course of the season was better.. sadly he was probably our second best dman without giving a crap. |

They need to move Hoff IMO, no sense in keeping him and letting him coast to his mid-thirties on a non-playoff team |

Why does it seem to be impossible to get the simplest facts right?
(I assume it's because in this why-bother-to-give-a-damn age it's just too much trouble to check.)
In any event, to set the irresponsibly inaccurate record straight . . .
the Sabres do not have three second round picks in 2014, or in 2015. They sent the picks acquired for Regehr to LA in the McNabb/Fasching deal. So they have two, not three, picks coming in the second round in both '14 and '15.
But hey, why nitpick when it would have taken two seconds to get it right. - courier
Pretty sure we have ours, the jets' and the wild's 2nd round pick this year. |

But what does it cost the sabres to get rid of him? I would imagine Myers would bring in a bigger return? |

Probably but he's pointless to move. He fits the curve of the rebuild like a glove. He will be 26-27 and in his prime for a defensemen when we are wanting to compete again.

This will be a massive year for the Sabres, especially if the draft is as loaded as people say.
I wouldn't bank on the Islanders pick being in the bottom 5 again though. As much as this year was a gong show for them, they were pretty solid in the short season. Really, all they need is 2-3 more free agents and they will be a bubble playoff team. Even still, any pick in the top 20 will be a great opportunity to land a quality prospect.
Having said that, it's Garth Snow and I'm sure he can find a way to make this an outstanding pick. |

I bet they could get the Oilers 2015 1st for Myers or Erhoff. |

They did good in a shortened season, so did the leafs, before that the Isles picked in the top 5 like 4 times in a row. Even in the "good" season their pick was 15th. |

Why would this matter? Buffalo isn't expecting to contend for a few more seasons so any salary they do retain just increases the chances of getting a better return

I must be in the minority then
I think Erhoff is the much better player RIGHT NOW then Myers is..
-He not only had more points (after giving up on the season)
-He took less penalties
-Played more games
- And averaged more TOI (28th in the league)

Based on a few more points and games played? Ask anyone who watches both play almost every game, they'll tell you the exact opposite. |

You said it . You are in the minority . Myer's turned the corner this season and at times was brilliant . He made one bad play in a meaningless tournament. So what ? He is not going anywhere . You need to watch more Sabre games before making such blanket statements.

You didn't watch them then... Not that you should have
For example. Ehrhoff had a cushy 48% Offensive zone start % compared to Myers 41%.

A big reason he has more ice time than Myers, is the fact that Myers literally plays the full 200 feet of the ice most games. It's tiring the way he joins the rush, then constantly has to sprint back into position |

That is the plan . At least we plan on sucking . The Islanders suck and that is not what is planned at all . Poor JT at some point he is going to beg to get out of that dog and pony show.

None?
Its a $4mm cap hit. He is also paid less than his cap hit for the majority of the deal.
The remaining contract is gold for an owner. |

Probably none...the Sabres take the risk of recapture penalty if he retires early though. |
