Vanek seems to be failing on his attempt to get 7 mill a year or more. |

You know sometimes I almost think Vanek getting that offer sheet was the worse thing that happened to his hockey career, maybe made him slightly lazy. |

It's funny how so many people click on a web link and all of sudden think they know every teams player based on enriched text and 10 minutes tsn highlights.
I wish more people would actually watch before making a rash judgement. - Sabresfan-365
But even people that watch every game ..... everything is the goalies fault, no matter what (unless the backup is playing). Our best offensive player post-Drury/Briere was excommunicated because of his off ice lifestyle even though he produced and often did so in the clutch. The most lazy, one dimensional player on the team was hailed as an all star and "50 goal player with the right center" |

That is the plan . At least we plan on sucking . The Islanders suck and that is not what is planned at all . Poor JT at some point he is going to beg to get out of that dog and pony show.

That is what you do for a proper rebuild . You get rid of old assets for picks and prospects and build from the ground up. But being an Islanders fan I understand how you would have no knowledge on how a proper sports franchise gets rebuilt for long term success . Yes I know , you guys were great in the 80's . What have you done in the last 30 years.? - Maximum Signal
Um. That's what they did. |

Halak isn't that good man. The guy has never reached the 30 win plateau. Even while on a team like the Blues. So ya he is not much of an upgrade IMO.
Isles will be closer to 10-15 then 15-20 at the end of next season. - Jammerz04
It's incredible the knowledge some of you sabres fans have of the islanders. I never realized how extensive it was till this season. |

What? Hes one of the top players in the game. If he lets it be known he wants out, the Islanders will be forced to trade him. The longer they wait, the lesser they get in return. Teams would line up for JT. |

That went over your head. Jt would have to want to go somewhere to want to leave. He has publicly stated that he loves it here after our season ended numerous times. If we continued to suck by the end of his contract you would have a point but if you think that's a good possibility you have not a clue of the team or what we have already and coming up. The team took a step back for a multitude of reasons last season but I wouldn't count on that for the next three. You guys sound like a bunch of leaf fans some times with this Tavares leaving nonsense. Same way it was when we drafted him you're wrong and obviously don't know much about the player or the team for that matter. |

No whats incredible is how naive the Islanders fans are about this. Halak is one part of the solution (better goaltending), but if there is anything Sabres fans know a thing or two about, its having a good goalie with poor defense gets you nowhere. Very baffling that Islanders fans can actually get behind the defense they will be sporting next year. Better hope Snow can convince a veteran UFA D or two to come play on the Island. |

Nothing went over my head. It was a completely hypothetical situation. Saying "he has a few years to mull it over" implies that he must wait until the end of his contract to decide to leave. I'm more of the opinion that IF he wanted to leave, he could make it happen. This year, next year, at the end of his contract, tomorrow... if he decides he wants out, he can make it happen, he doesnt have to mull it over for years. You dont need to have to know, watch or understand any team in the NHL to know that, as long as you know JT is one of the top players in the game. |

Do you actually think we are unaware of our defense? . There will be some additions to the blue line. Snow has no choice, he has to reach the floor. Plus the guy is fighting for his job this season if he doesn't get instantly canned when a new owner buys. It's the lack of knowledge or foresight in the situation that makes these debates with some of you draining. |

I see. So his continual gushing comments of the team and Long Island mean nothing? I see. As far as it going over your head it did. I was referring to him not being literally big enough physically to force his way out of anything. |

Well, with some of the comments being made about Halak, absolutely I think most of you are unaware with how pathetic your defense will be next year without significant additions, and no, Griffin Reinhart doesnt count as a significant addition.

"If he wants out, he can force his way out"
This statement is in a vacuum. It has nothing to do with how he felt in the past. IF he wants out. He could change his mind tomorrow, next month, next year... IF that happens, he can make it happen. |
