lol I get it
I essentially said that even though Myers may have had a better season then Erhoff, That erhoff is still the better player right now.
He managed to play more games then myers
Managed more points
Took less penalties
Had better puck possession numbers
Played more minutes (which you are arguing is because he had more offensive starts...ok sure)
Let's just...make a deal already! - Trilla
Ok...what'll u give us for him?
Assuming he'd accept a trade to Ottawa

So then he in't a difference maker......
Difference makers make others better around them. Something he doesn't.
Not a knock against him.
Just the honest truth.
Good not great player.
As I've said numerous of times. He isn't a franchise d-man. A very nice 2/3 guy is what he is. - dadeadhead
He absolutely is a difference maker. He proved that in numerous games this season.
Whether he can prove he can consistently be a difference maker is another story. However when he is "on" he's just as good as some of the best in the league. |

This one confuses me. If you guys are rebuilding...well you are, not really an "if" about it, why would you make that Spezza trade? Trust me, he isn't the guy to bother getting. While still a good player and talent, he's getting older and his body just seems to be suffering one injury or another far too often. Stay the course. I say the Sabres should go through another year of "tanking" cash in on their 50 million first round picks next year then start trying to aquire players who can help them win now. By the time the Sabres are ready to compete, Spezza will have walked away a UFA and or is past his prime. Just my opinion. Plus you would be robbing your youth of 3 roster spots with Neil, Greening and Spezza. Let the kids play, let them develop. Sabres are too many pieces away from contending to be making trades like that right now, even if you aren't giving up much future to make it happen. With how good the draft is expected to be next June, I wouldn't try too hard to put myself out of prime lottery spots. One more year of pain, could prove a whole lotta gain. |

Supposed to be one of the best drafts in years. The more chances you have of landing that first overall (McDavid), the better. Guys like him are game/franchise changers.. |

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, after he was named Executive of the Year by SportsBusiness Journal: “It’s almost an out-of-body experience because at this time of year I’m normally handing out a trophy and getting booed. To receive one and get applause is really quite novel.”

Isles need to sign Boyle, Havlat, Niskanen and another to be more assured of potential playoff team. Thoughts? |

I can't wait to hear what is said next year, when Adam Silver receives it while in the middle of trading punches in one of the ugliest court battles pro sports has seen to date. - buffalofan19

The problem with him right now is that he only seems to have the ability to turn it "on" when there are expectations are low. He played great this year, in a year where the team was terrible. Same goes for Stafford. Both have yet to prove they can maintain that level of play when it really matters. |

I still wouldn't be surprised to see a compromise though. He sells the team. Perhaps his wife sells the team. The fine goes away, and so does Sterling (with some compensation). Mark Cuban is right. If this goes to court, there is going to be some more dirty laundry being aired out that the owners don't want. It seems pretty naive to think that Sterling is the only owner with skeletons in his closet. |

Who's expectations though? You don't think after last year there was even more pressure for him to step up and have a rebound season?
Literally as soon as the coaching staff (and it started with Rolston) gave him the green light to play his style of hockey.... A light switch turned on and he was a different player. |

Nobody expected much from him last year. Very few people expected much from the team overall this season. Putting up numbers on a bad team is just that: performing when the stakes aren't that high. Some of the worst contracts in history have been awarded under that pretense, second only to the third liner putting up above average on a ridiculously deep team. |

So disregard what John Tavares or Shea Weber does because the stakes aren't high? I think that premise is incredibly flawed.
Fact is he was the best player on the ice for a good portion of the season, he's 24 and getting better.
Also as far as the "high stakes" point, Myers best hockey of his career where he has shown he can play like a #1 defensemen, came in the playoffs against Philly |

I still remember in game 7 when the Sabres were on the verge of being eliminated late in the game Myers was the only Sabre still trying, he was taking the puck end to end every time he touched the puck for some reason that has always stuck with me. |

I really expected him to play more like he did in that series the past few years
That series got him the contract, and now he is a shell of that series
