I'd take Turris over JvR any day. - Tomahawk
Same. They both took longer to develop than most top picks. |

They had Giroux in hand, and were getting ready to get Briere... they might have wanted to go big.
Kane was consensus #1, but not by a mile. - Tomahawk
If they really wanted to go big for the sake of going big, the stereotypical Flyers move would have been to draft the big center, which would have been Turris.
I think JvR was the BPA and they would have drafted Kane if he was there. |

He definitely was led down one of the poorer development paths I've seen for a lottery pick in recent years. |

Agree. I think both about the same but i think Turris is a little better in his own zone. |

I like it. Still want Komarov as I think he has more skill then Fiddler. Also I am not as high on jokinen as everyone else. I like Raymond. But its logical. not like tryinf to ad Moulson and vanek like peope do - J35Bacher
My thought on Fiddler is that he is an excellent penalty killer who can play all 3 forward positions. It would allow them to not have to use Giroux on the PK except as a fill in here and there which is something that I would like to see. |

Different situations with both, but other teams are now reaping the benefits of their "late" development.

Would you do Myers for B Schenn straight across? - PhiFaninEdm
For sure! Myers has proven he can do it at NHL level. Maybe he just needs a change of scenery, and same for B Schenn.
Buffalo GM has said he will listen to any offer for any player |

Again, not saying they would or wouldn't have, but the possibility was there... the lure of Johnny Vermont Part Deux was strong. |

Trade B Schenn for Bogosian
Probably outlook:
Bogosian becomes a 7G/22P guy who plays top-4 minutes
B Schenn becomes a 30-goal scorer who leads Winnipeg to...well, a playoff berth. |

Who do you guys think is a better player JVR or Turris? - PhillySportsGuy
Turris now, but he sure has taken his time developing. |

If it was a Bob Clarke pick, you better believe that would have been the thought process.
Also, with Homer's involvement in USA Hockey, I can't help but wonder if he didn't become enamored of JvR through JvR's development in the USA NTDP. |

I like the B Schenn for Myers, and I would toss Grossman in. Myers is only a year older than Schenn |

Myers is also alarmingly similar to Luke Schenn... initial success followed by complete and utter shell shock. |

Komarov kills penalties too. I like he is younger and has a nice edge to his game and skill. But i wouldn't be made if Fiddler was the guy. I like both guys kill penalties so giroux doesn't have too. I just want a fourth line that can create havoc and play more then 5 minutes a game and still create some chances.

I still have hope for Schenn. I think Berubes system helped him and he actually makes a half decent pass out of the zone. |

He has a lot more natural skill than Schenn. Their lack of consistency is fairly similar though |

Think is battered confidence is even lower than Luke's was when he arrived here...
Can he recover? Sure. Am I willing to bet Brayden Schenn on the possibility? No. |

Myers has way more offensive potential. I think he had 48 pts first year. I just think he need a change of scenery. His size ( 6'8) and shot are nice. |

I would consider it, but I'd need to watch a lot of tape on Myers before pulling the trigger. |

Sorry, think the way I wrote it was confusing... was talking similarity of situation, not similarity as players. |

I think he's salvageable... he's basically a possession-neutral player under some pretty tough usage this past season, and that ain't bad... I'd think long and hard about trading a number of lesser pieces for him (like Toronto gave up for Phaneuf), but none of my A+ assets. |
