First time posting after reading the forums for a few years. Some great stuff on here on a regular basis.

First on Brayden Schenn, I think the window is probably two years at 2.3-2.7/year. I don't think trading him is the right move. I think they should keep him and let him mature as a player. Move Vinny instead, even if you have to eat some salary.

Second on defense, I really think the answer to the defense is the young guys (i.e. Morin, Ghost, and Hagg), but it is unlikely that the answer comes this year. The Flyers just need to face the fact that 2014-2015 is going to be rough on defense and not do anything they will regret in the future. Play one of the young players with Timmonen and I don't think that pairing would be too much of a liability. Instead, I would move Grossman if possible to gain some speed on the back end.

The top line LW is something this team doesn't have and there isn't anyone coming in the system, so that should be the FA focus. Maybe Akeson fills the third line need. The key is to add speed at the forward position.

Having said all this, I could be wrong. This is simply how I see it.

You gotta take BPA. Especially, in the NBA draft. If both end up being good, but can't co-exist then you trade one in the future.

Lots of different scenarios for the draft. If Lebron is going back to Cleveland, they may want to take the best current player, which is Parker or Embiid. The Bucks have new ownership and wanted to make the playoffs last year. They could go after the best current player too.

In all likelihood, the Sixers are going to end up with Parker at No. 3. Not a bad consolation prize.

What if Hartnell played with Coots? That line isn't the fastest line out there and Hartnell isn't the fastest skater. I think if you get him to commit to D he could really fit there. Maybe play Raffl with Schenn and Simmonds to see if he can up his game enough to earn a top line spot. He played pretty well IMO but never could find the back of the net.

Saric would be a good compliment for Embiid. Not sure where that would leave Noel though.

I really like Stauskas. He's a great shooter and can handle the ball. He's very versatile and can play 3 positions. He reminds me a lot of Chandler Parsons, but a better shooter.

Harris is a nice player, but he's more of a defensive guy with 3 point ability. Those guys can be found in FA.

If they get Embiid, a guy like Zach Lavine is someone to keep an eye on. He has a ton of potential.

I've never liked either of those guys.

I remember Stephen A Smith saying Philadelphia never embraced McNabb because he was black. Somehow the fans have always revered Dawkins though.

My favorite Stephen A Smith moment was when he said he was sure the Denver Nuggets, with AI and Melo, would win the NBA Finals. He was sure of it. The Nuggets were promptly swept by the Lakers in the first round.

I'm not saying analysts should be right all the time, but EVERYONE who watched basketball knew the Nuggets couldn't defend and would never win a series. Only some idiot would pick them. The Nuggets were an 8 seed for a reason.
