one of the deepest drafts ever. and not only do we pass up on a bunch of bonfide stars, we take a total plug bust.

Perron + 2015 1st + gagner + marincin for boedker + hanzal + Murphy + 2014 2nd

Let draisaitl develop and we add a right hand shot young dman

Boedker is pretty solid at 211 lbs and lightning quick also adds two way abilities.

Perron is close to value the same value as hanzal IMO especially with hanzals injuries

Gagner + 2015 1st is close to boedker and a 2nd

Murphy has draft pedigree but marincin has performed excellently against top competition. Maybe a wash here (trying not to be an oilers homer haha) but long term is still up in the air. Murphy is also a year younger.

Thoughts?

Poor choice of words on my part. Just a good athlete, I'd bet he does well in the NHL

I'm more upset about the Musil pick than the Moroz pick. At least the 2012 2nd round wasn't one of, if not THE deepest in the last decade

A couple OKC playoff games. He is very sound positionaly but the skating just isn't there and I doubt it ever will be. I wanted Jenner or Gibson at the time and still wish we'd landed one of them

Ok see that's a fair assessment. I just think you were a tad too extreme in your original post. While is skating is definitely a weakness I think it's being blown out of proportion. What he lacks in skating ability he makes up for with strong defensive awareness and positioning and has already taken on a role of mentoring and easing in partners like Gernat and Oesterle.
