"This guy has a great shot, great one timer and we have no shooting threats on the PP. A PERFECT FIT FOR OUR 4TH LINE BECAUSE PHYSICALITY!" - DTF69
Again I find it amazing that the team that gave up a league-leading number of SH goals yanked Yak off the PP because he had to earn it. It didn't even strike me that he was behind many of them. |

The Oilers deployment and development of him is a (frank)ing shame. "We have a guy that could be Kovalchuk, but we don't want that because he needs to learn to play more like Ethan Moreau!"
(frank), why not try and turn the kid into Steve Staois? - DTF69
Wonder what his season would've looked like under Krueger. Healthy scratching a guy on the 3rd worst team in the league is great for a guys confidence. Especially in favour of (MOAR) GAZDIC |

Or starting him on the third line (which I think he did to start the season)
Oh and not treating eberle, gagner, etc the same when they made dumb ass plays. |

I am far from certain we would've been any better under Krueger.
yaks included. he was dead silent for a huge chunk of the middle of that season as well. it was sophomore slump that ill admit Eakins didn't do a lot to quell, but could've easily happened under ralph as well.
7th last in a shortened season where ralph had the luxury of far superior goaltending. and lets not forget the oil were free falling at the end too. I bet a lottery finish was likely.
special teams were better, 5 on 5 wasn't.
was Krueger even in charge of special teams anyway?? |

That's kind of what we've been craving for a while. A little bit of accountability from everyone. |

I agree, I was probably most disappointed with him this year - OilerFan16
I think the player I was most disappointed in this year was Jesse Joennsu. I hope we buy him out |

Yeah and I think Krueger led in part to the rapid demise of Horcoff, Gagner and Belanger. There was an article that analyzed his system, and how much pressure was put on the centres in the dzone in terms of - you know - playing defense. |

he got abit steadier as the season went on I thought.
still has that penchant for defensive miscues in our zone, but imo, he got better.
he's got fantastic offensive instincts, but probably wasn't prepared for the defensive minutes we threw at him from game 1. not to mention the pressure he faced once teams realized he wasn't ready.
put him beside a steady defender and keep him off the top pairing and I think he could turn into a huge asset for us - hugefemale dog77
I'd personally still like to see him turned into a RW. His defense is brutal and his offense was very underwhelming over the course of the year. It did get a little better at the end of the season when he finally realized that everyone in the league knew he was going to let a weak ass wrist shot go and started using his slapper |

Honestly, in hind-sight wasn't drafting Yakupov a mistake? His game is not translating to the NHL, He looks like he could be another Nikoli Zheridev, or Nikita Filitov. The unfortunate thing is that the Oilers got seduced by his flash, yes he was concensus #1, but the Oilers did not need another skill winger. Now they may not even have an NHL player, skilled Russians that don't get top six especially on one of the worst teams usually go to the KHL for tax free money and better more familiar life style. - gunner2233

And in related news, for some reason the Oilers front office en mass is at the Oil Kings game tonight.
Are you guys excited to waste a second on Edgars Kulda or Dison Mayo? - DTF69

He'd better work hard on his skating this summer. We need a guy like him or Khaira to turn out bigtime. |
