That guy in goal is pretty damn good for LA, I'm confident the Flyers have found their man in goal finally. - ravishingone

Good way to put it. Especially Richards. His heyday as a player, statistically and with regards to effectiveness, will be as a Flyer. - Giroux_Is_God
Carter will play longer than Selanne if he chooses to. One of his greatest skills is avoiding almost all contact without looking like a wussy. |

+1. But they got dam close though. - rockychocbill
If part of their supporting cast included a capable 3rd defensive pair, they would have. |

Well, for baseball I am, unfortunately. Unless I can find some men's legionball or something, I sadly will say my baseball days are over at least for now and for the foreseeable future - Giroux_Is_God
Time to move on to softball. Fun game, typically filled with old baseball heads, and sometimes you get to drink beer while you play. Bonus! |

Me too. I'm excited to see how he plays next season.
This is a good point though. During the Richards/Carter years, the goalie position was...unstable, put it kindly.
People that go out and yell and scream and say OH OF COURSE RICHARDS AND CARTER ARE WINNING NOW WHY COULDN'T THEY DO THAT IN PHILLY fail to realize or just condone the fact that the Kings of the last few season have been hands down better than any of the Flyers teams led by Richards and Carter. Nothing more, nothing less. |

.......even in spite of the goalie clusterfudge that was that playoffs. Was a great run though. |

And I'll be ok with that. Utley, Rollins, and Howard are the Phillies to me. Still, a transition should be in the works. - wolfhounds
Of all the bad RAJ trades, signing Howard to that massive contract over a year before he needed too is one of the biggest problems. |

Kopitar. Gaborik. Williams. Brown. Doughty. Quick...Carter and Richards.
Not to mention all the other solid role players on that team. |

To think Niemi was below average as a goalie in that series, only to be out done in ineptness by Leighton. Ironically, Emery was the goalie to start the season.
Also, Lombardi kept his core together because the first few years in the playoffs together for the Kings wasn't great. A cautionary tale that I believe Hexy has learned and will implement with the Flyers.

Exactly. What did they have here?
Pronger. Hartnell. Kimmo. Coburn. Gagne.

Agreed. Too much money for a player who seems to be on the wrong side of his peak. And the whole over-shift thing drives me f'n nuts. Still, if he can start crankin' them again, all that will be forgotten...at least for the season. |

I saw that. Was a serious shot to center-right. He got all of it, no doubt. |

On a slightly related note of home runs...does Giancarlo "Don't Call Me Mike" Stanton EVER hit a cheap one?
Every single one of his home runs he's ever hit has been a moonshot. He absolutely rips the ball. |

Hawks defence is not contributing much these games. Keith has his head far up his ass right now. Totally useless stuff from him right now. |

I knew I was forgetting someone. How embarrassing- he's one of my favorite Flyers ever.

I'd trade the farm for him. The catch he made on a gap shot by Asche was ridiculous. Robbed him of a bases clearing triple. He has a cannon as well. |
