Well, it was a direct result of him shooting wide on an empty net

What farm do the Phils have??

I know what you mean though. He's pretty special. Could be generational.

2 picks away from Trout. Phillies were going to take him. How much better does the future look with:

Singleton at 1B
Trout CF
Santana RF

and $33 million savings.

Oh great. No more TSN now. We get to listen to Bob Cole the rest of the way. I might as well cancel my sport channels now.

I actually talked to one of his assistant coaches at a family reunion dinner with friends of ours down in Millville. This was before he was drafted. He told me to keep an eye on this kid because he was a phenom. He said Phillies told him he was their guy if there.

No proof, but I don't doubt it.

Kings-Rangers cup final? I honestly can't think of a worse possible final for a Flyers fan than those two teams.
- JAKEw1234

NJ-LA 2 years ago was pretty much the same (frank)ing thing. jfc.

Me too. I'm excited to see how he plays next season.

This is a good point though. During the Richards/Carter years, the goalie position was...unstable, put it kindly.

People that go out and yell and scream and say OH OF COURSE RICHARDS AND CARTER ARE WINNING NOW WHY COULDN'T THEY DO THAT IN PHILLY fail to realize or just condone the fact that the Kings of the last few season have been hands down better than any of the Flyers teams led by Richards and Carter. Nothing more, nothing less.

- Giroux_Is_God

Flyers also had players like Parent and Krejicek on d.

They did.

But the reason they're winning Cups now and not in Philly is because in LA, they're the supporting cast. Maybe not so much Carter, but Richards is a supporting cast member for sure.

Those guys can't get it done if they're #1 and #2 on the team's forward corps.

- Giroux_Is_God

Don't know if they can't get it done as 1 and 2. Might depend on the supporting cast! Which makes my real point.

For some reason there is a need among some of the Flyers fan base to downplay the role of Richards and Carter. They are key players and very good players on a very good team. That might be on their way to winning the Cup again.

Richards was fine for us. He gave us his best years. He's tired and broken down now.

Carter was the same as he is now except he's probably playing looser than he did in Philly. Boy was bad luck, schlep rock when the chips were down.

- rockychocbill

Carter's issues here in the playoffs was injuries. Separated shoulder and broke his foot twice.

Probably the case for me, as well, but that won't stop the "The Flyers never should have traded Richards and Carter" trolls.

Mine was a total blur. Yesterday was all about getting right for work today.

I had fun and my son had fun, etc. But it felt like I was constantly on the move and running all weekend. And I was on call for work at the same time. Yesterday was a welcome respite.

i live in NY...As a flyers fan in this decrepid city, id rather hear about richards and carter being traded rather than have to deal with the morons up here untill the flyers win one.

I took off all 3 days. I live down the shore, so I had a ton of people stay with me. Many work in Philly, so they ended up leaving early this morning. I'm still recovering here at work.
