Quick question. If prospects are signed by June 1st are they free agents then? I saw Hyka wasn't signed yet. Also some other intriging names. |

Don't know if they can't get it done as 1 and 2. Might depend on the supporting cast! Which makes my real point.
For some reason there is a need among some of the Flyers fan base to downplay the role of Richards and Carter. They are key players and very good players on a very good team. That might be on their way to winning the Cup again. - MJL
That's exactly what I just said, more or less.
And no, I'm not downplaying their roles on the team even a little bit. Don't know where you got that. |

It depends on which league they come from. |

i live in NY...As a flyers fan in this decrepid city, id rather hear about richards and carter being traded rather than have to deal with the morons up here untill the flyers win one. - PhillaBully
this is the only option. i don't even care about carter/richards. ny can not, and i mean CAN NOT win the (frank)ing cup. |

I don't even remember what happened this weekend. It was a fun memorial day though. I think. - PhillySportsGuy
LOL
Sunday night was like that for me. Hanging with a bunch of fellow musicians at a bbq which quickly turned into an alcohol and weed fueled jam session! |

Carter will likely finish with more playoff points this postseason than he had in all seasons with the Flyers.
Not saying he choked with the Flyers. Just an interesting stat. |

Ok. I saw there were a couple guys not signed who maybe the Flyers could take a run at. Also I find it interesting with Hyka because he got skill and speed and he was wanted by the flyers but then drafted by LA and now Hextall comes from LA to Flyers so I am curious what his opinion on Hyka would be. |

I mean as much as that feels like a kick in the balls we can't ignore the fact that he was injured most of the time in the playoffs here. |

I took off all 3 days. I live down the shore, so I had a ton of people stay with me. Many work in Philly, so they ended up leaving early this morning. I'm still recovering here at work. - PhillySportsGuy
I hate Memorial Day Weekend. Work is insane, the roads are a mess and you can't do anything without a stampede of tourists. |

Teams hold draft rights for two years, generally. Exceptions are made for NCAA players, when teams get until the summer after their senior year to sign them.
Hyka should remain Kings' property until next summer |

No contract = (restricted) free agent, unless they've signed outside of the NHL.
To use your example, Hyka's just recently signed a 2-year deal to play in the Czech Extraliga (BK Mlada Boleslav)... unless he has an out-clause, he's accounted for. |

Thats true, but there is a noticeable difference in his current playoff play and his Flyers playoff play. I don't know if it has to do with maturity, not being relied upon to do so much, luck or just feeling comfortable.
I'm just saying there is a noticeable difference. He's a better playoff performer now than before. Even when he was healthy before. |

I know. Its like people don't realize many of the streets in Margate and Ventnor are 1-way. I nearly hit people who were going the wrong way down a 1-way street. |

We went out and about on Sunday, driveways were blocked by idiots parked illegally, guy was going wrong way down one way street in Cape May-and the street is as wide as a sidewalk in Philly-and just generally being asses.

Flyers would still be in the playoffs. It would of been Flyers and Rangers in the SCF

Ah yes, scratch what I said before. If the Kings let his rights lapse, then he becomes UFA. Right now, no other NHL team can touch him until after draft+2. |
