The only time I spend in the casinos is when I have to walk through them to get to the restaurant or seating for the shows. The last time a did any betting was during a guys night out with my father in law and two brothers in law. Spent the day fishing, had dinner at one of the buffets, then played blackjack for a few hours. - Jsaquella
I'm with you. I only go to casinos for the occasional dinner and concerts. |

It's not a technicality in my opinion. Richards and Carter are top players on that team. And were also when LA won the Cup in the past. They're not supporting players, they're top players on the team. Richards has taken on a different role this year, and is sacrificing offense to do it. But LA doesn't win without those two, in my opinion. - MJL
Why are you arguing with me?
Of course they wouldn't win without them. I never said that.
Richards and Carter and Toffoli and Muzzin and Gaborik and all those fellas are important pieces that compliment THE guys: Kopitar, Quick, and Doughty.
So, to review, Richards and Carter are important to the Kings' success. As are many others of the "big names" on that team- Doughty, Quick, Kopitar, Gaborik, and Williams. But the bottom line is in Philadelphia, Richards, Carter, and Pronger were our Doughty, Quick, and Kopitar. I said in some earlier posts that this Kings team that Carter and Richards play on now is just flat out better than any of the Flyers teams they've played on before. Why is that? Because they're not THE guys. Logic says if they're not THE guys, there are better, more valuable players to the team than those 2.
They're both good players. They're both important players. I'm not downplaying their roles. I'm saying their roles are DIFFERENT and MORE SUITED to them as players. That role is being a complimentary piece, solidifying the team around THE guys.
Why am I arguing with you? |

Those places are just too much for me. During the day it's depressing, old folks betting away the kid's inheritance. At night its a bunch of morons thinking they're James Bond and looking like they came from a Jersey Shore casting call. |

I used to spend at least a month here in summer as a kid, and I never really intended to live here. I figured I'd stay in the Cherry Hill/Collingswood/Haddon Twp area, but my wife had residency requirements for work, so here I am.
It took a good three years to adjust, now I really enjoy it most of the time. But the holiday weekends are awful. A lot of that is due to work, too. - Jsaquella
by the time i was ready for college, i wanted to get far away and never come back. i did, of course, and ended up back in the area for about 6 years before making my way, mistakenly, to north jersey for year, and then coming to the philly and lehigh valley areas for the next 10. i love where i grew up. it's still home. but the summers irritate me to no end. mostly because of the new york (and some north jersey) bumholes that are like a plague of locusts. the sight of a new york license plate makes me angry.
i'll be back in late july/early august for a vacation and i'm really looking forward to it. my kids are old enough now that we can take them to the beach for a few hours without it being a total disaster. we have a pool/tub at my dad's just a couple of miles inland so we can be there most of the time. the wife and i are going to escape somewhere for a couple of days. it's been almost 3 years since we've been on vacation alone for more than 2 days. i'm on the verge of kittens. seriously. |

I like how this sums up LA

I believe a lot in this 'LA model', as in having elite players and surround them with more good players. |

Counterpoint: Love going to the Irish Pub and enjoy a meal at Angelo's Fairmount tavern.
There are places to go to in AC if you don't like the casinos. Just don't stray too far off the beaten path. |

I hear that...the last vacation we had as a couple was 2007. We went to a wedding at Disney in Orlando. Basically a high school reunion for me.
We're taking a weekend in June to go to some country music festival in Hunter Mountain. No kids, horrible music and peace |

but f'reals, you're right. The best advice on timing, imo, is don't wait until her interest evaporates.
Worst case scenario, she says no. |

I've been burned before waiting for that Hallmark moment too. More often than not, it just doesn't come.
I learned real quick after that.
Nothing wrong with "By the way....just wondering if you're interesting in grabbing a coffee or something later if you're free". Dat poop's initiative. They like that. |

I don't necessarily want to send a text cause it might be easier to do it in person; we work in the same building. This also isn't just a broad, we've been friends for like four years. It's definitely a risky move for sure.
Think June of 2011, Richie and Carter moved; does the reward outweigh the risk? |

No risk, no reward.
My wife and I were just good friends for 6 years before we starting dating.
And, after 22 years of marriage, she is still my best friend

Ok I see then. Just pull it at the water cooler my Communist friend!
Worst case, she says "nah" and ya stay friends. Besides, if you guys have been at least closeish for 4 years, odds are with you |

There ya go! Listen to this guy. He gets it.
I knew mine (my girlfriend...not wife....) for like ummm 6 months before we started dating. At a year and change now. Those 6 months were a whirlwind

This.
Asking somebody to dinner is a bit grandiose -- not to mention intimidating for the both of you.

Also good advice.
The first date dinner thing is hardly ever accurate/the best choice. Like you said, it's grandiose.
Guess we can thank Hollywood for that myth. |

The Back Bay is very good, IMO.
Used to go to the Flying Cloud back when it was open, but I think a hurricane took it out. |
