Seems they have really taken the "Money" part of "Moneyball" to heart.

That was an overpay before the "throw in" of the PTBNL now 21 year old Domingo Santana, a RH hitting RF with similar numbers to Singleton

In AAA this year:

.294/.366/.510/.876.

Cosart has been struggling with his control in the bigs, but he's still a puppy.

Uh...why is Carter killing a penalty? Does this always happen? Or is it because Kopitar was serving a penalty?

Carter sees regular time on the PK for LA.

Kings are probably going to buy out Richards and resign Gaborik. The way they work as a five man unit is very impressive.
- ravishingone

I'll be shocked if they buyout Richards. And I agree, the Kings puck support is phenomenal. Their entire team game is a sight to behold.

If they get to the cup and buyout Richards it will be the dumbest thing since the Ravens cut Dilfer after they won the Super bowl.

Carter is an underrated defensive player. Very solid defensively, and has been for most of his career.

His offensive numbers are down, but still a very important all situations player for LA.

I would like to see one of the young guys step up and make the team. It would be nice.
- MJL

I agree. I actually think Hagg might be the guy that might surprise here. Originally I thought Ghost, but the more I think about it, the more I think Hagg might be the fit.

As far Byfuglien goes, I think he is a nice addition, but I'm confident the asking price is not something the Flyers should meet. Stay the course on defense and one or more of the young guys will eventually step up.

Eventually being the key word. Reality is that for any of the current D prospects to become top defenseman, is years away, if at all. Can the Flyers really wait for that?

I think it is a possibility, only because Richards has 6 more years at $5.75 million. After next season, Martinez, Regeher, Stoll and Williams will be UFAs. Muzzin, Clifford, Pearson, Toffoli, and Nolan will be RFAs. I would figure Muzzin and Toffoli could get decent bridge deals.

However, in two years Kopitar will be 29 and a UFA. I have to figure he'll get over $8 million/yr.

Lombardi has some tough decisions at the end of this season to manage his cap over the next couple of seasons.

The "silly season" thought going through my head is for Hextall to put an offer sheet together for Muzzin.

Won't happen though.

Raises the question though- how much money do you think he's gonna get? 3-3.5 per year over 2-3 years?

Again....the familiar refrain I've been singing...

Even if he did dive- go back to the root of the problem. Why does Shaw think it's a good idea to do that in the first place? Stupid.

Kings-Rangers cup final? I honestly can't think of a worse possible final for a Flyers fan than those two teams.

Next summer is where the Kings could face issues.

Richards has remained a solid player, but is a solid depth guy worth a $5.7mm cap for the next 6 years? It's really only interesting because this is the final summer teams can use a CBO and avoid a cap penalty on a guy.

Sounds about right, but Lombardi may want to buy some UFA years also like he did with Voynov. He signed him to a 6 year with a cap hit of $4.16 million/yr. Muzzin won't be an RFA until after next season.
