Trading Utley will be like when we traded Gagne... Not a good day.
- wolfhounds

I'll be sad. Very sad. But at the end of the day, it needs to be done.

I'll be more upset at Utley going than I was at Gagne going.

They'd be my second choice. First choice is the Habs, but that ain't looking good. So Yup, Let Carter and Richie party down in Sea Isle with it.

Hyun-jin Ryu perfect through 7, then gives up 3 hits and a 3 spot in the 8th. Don't see that a lot

Carter is meh for me. I'm all for Richards. But Carter is still, to me, a toolbag who female doged his way off a mediocre team cuz he didn't want to play there

Utley and Rollins will retire as Phillies. I think that is already baked in the cake.

Cool discussion happening by the LAD announcers right now....

"I could make the best pitch in the world to a batter, who could take the worst swing in the world, and he loops it over the 1st baseman's head for a double. Or, I could make the worst pitch in the world, and the batter could take the best swing in the world, square it up, barrel it, and hit a laser to right field that takes the right fielder's glove off, but he still catches it. It's a funny game."

He's right. It is a funny game.

Utley is having a good season so far, is likely a highly respected player throughout the league, and he knows how to win. I imagine quite a few bubble teams would give us some decent assets for him, and it makes sense to do while his stock is high again (after all the knee problems), especially if the Phillies aren't likely to make the playoffs.

I must confess that I haven't given up on the Phillies winning the division yet. A ton of injuries in Atlanta and Washington. One can hope and I am a glutten!

They did.

But the reason they're winning Cups now and not in Philly is because in LA, they're the supporting cast. Maybe not so much Carter, but Richards is a supporting cast member for sure.

Those guys can't get it done if they're #1 and #2 on the team's forward corps.

I understand your point, but Utley and Rollins will go down in team colors. Unless Jroll magically gets close to 3000 and wants to limp on elsewhere.

Richards was fine for us. He gave us his best years. He's tired and broken down now.

Carter was the same as he is now except he's probably playing looser than he did in Philly. Boy was bad luck, schlep rock when the chips were down.

That guy in goal is pretty damn good for LA, I'm confident the Flyers have found their man in goal finally.

Yup, no wrong answer here.

When I was younger, when I was actually playing ball all spring, summer and fall, I almost never watched a game. It would be like sitting inside to watch hockey when your friends were out in the street or on the pond. But as we get older, watching is what we're typically left with...

I know you're young, so you're probably not there yet...

Good way to put it. Especially Richards. His heyday as a player, statistically and with regards to effectiveness, will be as a Flyer.

And I'll be ok with that. Utley, Rollins, and Howard are the Phillies to me. Still, a transition should be in the works.

Well, for baseball I am, unfortunately. Unless I can find some men's legionball or something, I sadly will say my baseball days are over at least for now and for the foreseeable future
