Then should of traded him cause you will lose him for nothing now. - jake24242
he made his comments after the season was over. today, the guy sucks. could he possibly be good one day? maybe. does he deserve to be in the NHL? no. |

Dee, you do realize Pokka was playing in the Finnish league against men while the others were facing competition their own age right? Also do you understand there is more to prospects than stats especially D-men? And being that you are a writer for a hockey blog, you must have taken the time to look up his performance at the world championship? Amazing. Reminds me of the Kyle Wellwood for D fiasco. - Dgmilazz
this ...
Pokka was playing against men, the other prospects were playing against 16 year olds..big difference |

He is ready the NYI D was not. Again look at the worlds. - jake24242
So young goaltenders who have played in the NHL at an extremely sub par level and excel at the worlds are automatically ready for the NHL? I see. Makes sense now. Besides, did you watch him play for the Isles? I think not bcs you wouldn't have this opinion. The kid is clearly not ready. Basic fundamental goaltending mistakes 5 or 6 times a game. Our D was horrible. Of this I'm aware but that doesn't change the FACT that the kid couldn't play his angles, dropped to quickly, and gave up horrible rebounds which was all on him not the D. |

100% agree. He could be a great goaltender some day but he just isn't there yet. You can't sacrifice a season bcs of some kids ego. How he could think he is ready with his numbers not only in the NHL but the AHL is beyond me? This is one of those situations where the kid should have swallowed his pride and spent a season perfecting his game in the AHL. Obviously Snow was bull on his talent and he would have gotten that chance. |

to me, the real question is why does nilsson have so much pride to begin with?! was he happy with his season?? where does this kid get off making demands after finishing 75th out of 97 in save percentage among goalies in the league?? who is telling him that he is in a power position?!!? (frank) this kid |

He probably just wants to make as much money as he can like everybody else in this world. AHL paychecks ain't much. |

His agent most likely got an offer from a KHL after watching him at worlds and the only way he wasn't going to take it, is if the Islanders gave him an NHL job. They didn't and they shouldn't have. |

while im no prude and understand that players care a lot about the money (assuming thats what happened) it just comes off as super douchy and a terrible way to conduct yourself professionally. if he ever wants to come back to the NHL, this is a giant black eye for him -- i think.
then again, if he turns into patrick roy, no one will care. |

Watching Tokarski and Talbot last night, and you realize there are quite a few good goalies in the that mid 20's age group on the NHL cusp like Nilsson. The KHL offers good pay and depending on the taxes maybe other opportunities and factor in that athletes in Europe live fairly well. May be a better chance that we see Koskinen here as the backup to Halak before Nilsson. |

So you lose him for nothing? so thats well worth it then right and when he gets picked up next year for free from a nhl club you will be like damn wish we gave him a better shot. wait and see. |

Because the Isle dont have any good D in the pro's He wanted to play for a team he can have success with. Halak wont help much this year unless you land a stud D and no one is available that would help besides Dion Phanuef and he overpaid and a 2nd pairing guy. |

OK. So then what do you do? Trade him to whom? Do you even know if there was a trade to a team that would give him NHL playing time? Do you even know if this wasn't looked into? Do you see where I'm going with this? |

I disagree with the does not deserve a nhl shot. You do know that Bridgeport was the second worse team in the AHL and he was the better goalie down there. Poulin who 90% of NYI fans where saying a few years ago was the answer went with only 2 wins. At least Nillson got 2 SO and stole the games. What did NYI have to lose to let him be the backup and play 30 games this year. Not like they are going to make the playoffs next year with this current roster. |

Do you know that there wasn't? Id take him as a backup hell id trade RFA Riemer for him. I do get what your saying but if Snow could not make a deal then hes pretty terrible as a GM. |

Bcs of why? Due to Nilsson having a good showing at the worlds and you've become a fan? Again, I'm no fan of Snow in fact I don't like him as our GM but you're doing a lot of assuming and putting a label on a situation without really knowing anything. Maybe he did attempt to trade him and there were no takers? Believe it or not that is a VERY real possibility. My point is who knows. You're coming to a conclusion by assuming and after watching Nilsson for a season I don't want him as a back up for the team I'm a fan of. He was NOT GOOD AT ALL. |
