TMZ Sports spoke with Wong who says he was sitting behind the Blackhawks bench -- and was heckling Crawford -- when the goalie was pulled from the game toward the end of the 3rd period.

That's when Crawford -- who's in the middle of a 6-year, $36 MILLION contract -- allegedly whipped out a water bottle and blasted him right in the face.

Wong says he believes the bottle was filled with backwash -- along with water -- and it has caused serious irritation to his eyes. Wong says he's going to a doctor to get his eyes checked.

That's off the top of my head a list of players who could be had. Some cheaper than Ehrhoff some would cost around a little more than the suggestion you made but are probably better options.

Detroit needs a long term solution on that front. Someone entering around the prime of their career who could give them 4+ years of very good hockey. Ehrhoff has a good contract on him but at 32 years old, I seriously doubt he'd be able to help them in that regard.

Hoff was 28th in the league for mins played. Only Letang and Hamhuis on your list had more TOI/g and it wasn't by much. He's a perfect fit for Detroit or Pittsburgh IMO. I'd even say eat part of Hoff's cap hit(like say a mil) to make the deal work.
