Thanks for all the good info. Pouliot needs a year in WBS, I'm not even considering him in Pit next year. But I would really like to see Harrington up, we need the calming influence i think he'll bring.
How does he look at keeping the front of the net clean? - canadianpenfan
I agree, it's always nice to get someone's opinion who watches these guys all of the time in WBS.
Harrington has to get a solid look in camp this year. It's asinine that with all of the defenseman injuries, that he at least didn't get a couple games in the NHL this year.
The Pens hopefully will have 2 players on ELC's playing big roles (Maatta & Bennett). With how top heavy our salary structure is, it would sure be nice to have a couple more playing good roles. |

Prob. is weakest point. He's go some size not as big as Dumoulin but he isn't overly physical. He isn't as bad as Samuelsson who constantly gets burned in front of the net though. He's real good at collecting the puck and kicking it to the corners or clearing it. He's real level headed and doesn't panic either which is a nice trait. He's coachable though so he's likely to improve there. |

Very nice assessment, keep this kind of stuff coming. Except your take on Sill; don't bring that crap around here... - nbartley9
Sill will not meet the nbartley9 expectations sorry. He's not dirty, not as physical anymore. Limited banger.
You need to campaign to get Bobby Farnham move up from WBS to Pitt. He's got your desires all over him |

I thought I couldn't stand you guys until I went and was reading on HFboards. I have a new found love for all of you - dbell646
Hfboards are the worst. Very few, if any have a clue.

But that command of respect can fade fast if the players realize that he doesn't have the answers and assistants keep stepping in to make adjustments/game plans. - rival22
Who cares? Hockey coaches are hired to be fired. If you make 2 runs with him and have to dump him so be it. |

Very nice, I have to admit his slightly crossed eyes and bulging forehead are the exact traits I am looking for in a hockey player. I really hope he makes the club. - nbartley9
Check out his number and the way he runs guys with reckless abandon.

Let's go Kings! And then next year when they lose we will hear how the team who beat them should be the model for every other team. |

Sweet merciful crap, the fact that he isn't a good fighter makes him all that more appealing to me. I cant believe he wears #24, at least he is doing it before it gets retired at Consol. |

He's an RFA this summer... it could be a short love affair for Bartley... |

I already ordered his jersey, and have made the proper calls to have a prosthetic bulging forehead made for me to wear to games. |

Just looking through random drafts, and Eric Tangradi was taken one pick before his junior teammate.... PK Subban

Scuds was never great at clearing the crease either though, as long as the puck doesn't get there you don't have to worry about the man and these guys just block shots and take away sticks with the best of them.
I still think Pouliot gets the mid season call up, if only for his offensive abilities. There is also nothing wrong with playing a season down in the AHL to get your game together. He might be our best prospect now that Despres and Maatta moved out of prospect range.
I'm fine with Despres finding a mean streak as well. Start to coach him up on when and where penalties can be taken and just let him play his game. Bylsma never did that. Never trusted him to play all over the ice. He was very sheltered and forced into a production role, which isn't his game. He has some O, but excels as a good D in all zones, not just one. |

Honestly, the Penguins could have 4 or 5 players on ELC or near-ELC deals for them next season. Maatta & Bennett are locks. Bortuzzo isn't on an ELC deal, but at $600K its pretty close. Add in Dumoulin & possibly Despres (RFA) & the Pens could finally have some serious Cap savings from ELC deals to spread around to the rest of the roster.

To be honest, I'm surprised that the Pens haven't made a decision regarding the new GM yet. If they bring someone in from the outside, that person is going to have to hit the ground running given that there is only four weeks until FA and some NTCs kick in, not to mention the coaching dilemma. Wonder what the holdup is? |
