Detroit next year down the middle.....Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Weiss, Legwand, Thornton, Abdelkader, Helm, Sheahan, Anderson....did I miss anyone? - willey101
The Ducks will take Abdelkader and/or Anderson off of the Wings hands. That'll make it easier to add Chokin' Joe. |

Yes because two players with NMC, who just signed extensions, are going to waive them.
Joe Thornton got unjustly run from Boston and hates media attention, so you can rule out Toronto and Detroit. Why would Marleau want to leave the only team he's ever played for while they are still a top team in the West?
The Sharks roster isn't getting blown up. This is a team that only Detroit is ahead of in consecutive playoff appearances so blowing up the roster isn't going to solve anything except how to destroy a franchise.
This team needs Cup experience added to it, players from Cup winning teams who can inject something into the locker room come mid-April and beyond. It doesn't need to be torn apart, nor does it need that win-nothing goaltender Ryan Miller, who took a Cup contender to the golf course when Elliot and Halak were just fine in St Louis. - thirstyfin
Don't think that was the case... We just had a REALLY sh!tty leadership team and GM and an even worse coach lol....

I remember his last playoff series with Boston he played with broken ribs and was given a pretty rough ride from the fans and media. |

I agree 100%. Add a solid ,experienced winning D-Man, a veteran winger and maybe upgrade goal and you'll be fine. Blowing a 3 game lead lead is awful, but it's not like they got beat by some scrubs, it was the (frank)ing Kings!

Marleau and Thornton are here to stay.
They JUST signed contracts with the Sharks, with NMC.
The only change we'll see will be Boyle and Havlat gone. - Scabeh
doug wilson confirmed in the post season presser that every contract has a window of flexibility in it. they may have NMC's but there's probably a period of time each season where they could be traded...Heatley's deal had that too when they shipped him off to Minny.
and marleau's vaunted leadership? he was stripped of his captaincy and was pegged in roenick's book as a total dud in the locker room despite his obvious talent.
the sharks are no closer to winning the cup right now with the current roster as florida or edmonton... |

That's a lot of players down the middle. - Streit2ThePoint
That is exactly why it ain't happening.
Wings actrually would like to trade some centers away.
And Legwand is a UFA and will not be resigned. |

Andersson and the rights to Bertuzzi for Joe, plus you retain most of his cap. Sounds like a fair deal, eh? |

The Isles will always be linked to names like these guys... Ownership can say through media like this, "hey. We tried to land a guy like Marleau but, he wouldn't waive his rights to come here. Oh well, I guess we're handcuffed and have to stay at the league minimum again!" |

#3 to one of florida, calgary or vancouver, but not to all three |
|

For Thornton, I think as you soon as you remove the expectation of him being "the guy" he will be much better off. He plays great in the regular season and did well in the Olympics. But it seems as soon you look for him to lead the way...poof! He's gone. |

He plays every third game for each of them. Everyone wins. |
