Why the hell would you root for LA?If they win another cup with Richie and Carter this current Flyers core is NEVER going to hear the end of it. As much as I hate to say it the Hawks or Rags can have this one. LA wins another and the moaning from the beat writers and negative nancys will drive just about every sane Flyers fan to insanity. - hereticpride
I am rooting 100% for LA and for Richards and Carter. I don't care about the moaning.

I really liked Raffl all over the lineup. I was really surprised with his physical style because he's not that big and he came over from Europe. He was hitting everything in sight.
I'm hoping Laughton is ready to nail down a bottom 6 roster spot this year. If he does there's not much room for another European Experiment on this team. - Coburns_Nose
if raffl could develop some finishing ability to his game, what a boon he would be. |

I am rooting for whichever team comes out of the West. If that's the Blackhawks (who I naturally hated for a couple of years for beating us but have moved on from hating to enjoying their brand of hockey) so be it. If that's the Kings (I still love Mike Richards, neither here nor there on Carter but he's been great this year, especially in the Olympics and the playoffs) so be it. I'm just enjoying this great Western Conf Finals series and praying the team that comes out of it takes the Rags out in 4, 5 at most |

Because Richards and carter didn't trade themselves, why can't I root for guys that almost won us a cup and may have done so again if they stayed?
Edit: Do you actually read the beat writers? - funmaster18
You can root for whoever you want but just be prepared to deal with the endless griping over the cup wins, the trades and how we screwed ourselves in the deals.
I don't read the beat writers but they largely set the course of discussion in this town and really, where else would you expect them to steer things after another LA win? |

I dont care who wins as long as it isn't NY. I can never, ever at no time ever root for a NY win at anything unless it's a race to the center of the sun.

There is no easy team to root for either of the three options. I suppose I'd prefer to see Chicago win. It'll only help price themselves out of one of Kane or Toews when their contracts are up.
LA winning is just going to generate so much backlash in Philly. MJL might not mind because it will give him something to debate all summer , but come on, Richie and Carter already promptly got a Cup. I rooted for them that year and I think that was enough. |

He's a punk. Glad the Flyers didn't draft him. The prize from that 56 point season is awesome with a capital A! |

I do this thing where I ignore bull poop. It comes in handy when accidentally stumbling across a mess of an article scribbled by one of the local beats. As for people that will cry about it in here, well, I'm sure they'll find something to cry about one way or the other. |

On WIP the other day Ant' and Rob said if the flyers get past the rangers they go to the cup. That may or may not have been true, but they pointed to the price injury as the factor that tipped it in the flyers favor.
To summarize, the flyers would have no problem rolling past Pitt and Price gets the same knee injury that was inflicted by a rag? Hmm, interesting thought process.
Edit: I realize the irony of this post following my slamming of the beat writers. |

in other news around hb...regis is being considered for the gm role in pittsburgh, the devils blobber is suggesting they go after mike richards, and paul stewart wants 5 minute misconducts for diving.

I pray Pierre gets the GM gig with the Pens.
1. He will make a mess out of that franchise
2. We don't have to listen to his garbage on a nightly basis during the playoffs.

just say no.
that's like saying "oh, if we scored on that play, then X would have happened. no. you can't have one play be different than it was, and then have the rest of the game play out in the same fashion. this infuriates me. |

i'm not so sure about #1, but definitely #2. it's clear that the pens fans on this board do not want him.
anything that gets that putz off the air is a good thing. except of course if he worked for the flyers. |

What is there to debate? The Flyers traded two very good hockey players who both wound up on a very good team. Good for them. It was flat out known when the Flyers made those deals, that they were taking a step back. And that it was being done for the future, for a variety of reasons. So how does LA winning a Cup, or another Cup, change anything? If one of the beats or some fans want to say the Flyers screwed up, let them. Who knows, maybe they did. We'll find out. But for now, I'm happy with the progress of the return they got. And really the reason that the Flyers haven't advanced further to this point, is because they need to sure up other areas of the team, and because of situations such as the injury to Pronger. |

Eklund's blog is suggesting that Stralman is looking at a deal for 3.75-4M in free agency. I think he'll get a little more. But if Stralman is available at that price, the Flyers should jump on it. |

If the Kings win the cup then buyout Richards, where will the writers stand on that trade? |

Good question. Maybe that depends on where he signs. If its with Arizona that is no big deal but if he wins two cups and then goes to a rival to be a thorn in our sides then maybe it's viewed a little differently. |
