Good question. Maybe that depends on where he signs. If its with Arizona that is no big deal but if he wins two cups and then goes to a rival to be a thorn in our sides then maybe it's viewed a little differently. - hereticpride

Rumors of Toronto have already started. It would make a ton of sense too. They're looking for a player like Richards
Edit: if Richie is bought out it could hurt the market for VL a bit |

Stastny is also going to be in demand.

Yeah. I think Richie would definitely be more appealing than VL. It would just take another suitor off the market. LA isn't really in cap trouble now, but things could get difficult a little later when their young guys all hit free agency |

Definitely agree on the VL part.
In the East I think Tor, NJ, the Isles, and Buff all could have interest in Richards should he be bought out. |

If Richards gets bought out, it's not going to be because he's not a good player anymore. But top teams are going to have to make sacrifices. Richards has taken on a defensive role at the expense of personal gain. I have no doubt that if he goes to another team, he can be a very good 2nd line center for somebody. It was no mistake that Richards was on the ice in the last minutes of the game last night, with LA needing a goal. |

As a FA I see him having little interest in moving to North Jersey. |

LA vs NYR, CHI vs NYR, I think league revenues win either way... aka hopefully a higher cap ceiling. |

No. Not a single player on LA has either a NTC or NMC.

Anyone know who the last goalie was to lead the NHL in W, GAA, and SV%? - Giroux_Is_God
Ed Belfour (1991): .910SV%, 2.47GAA, 43W
Edit: Bob Froese did it for us in '86, but he was tied w/ Beezer for W's. |

Ok so slightly random, and incredibly saddening, but do you know what my favorite thing about Pronger was?
The way he handled the media. That cocky ass attitude and swagger he had...
But the reason is NOT because of how he picked on Pinaccio. It was because I always thought he did that poop on purpose, to keep the bullpoop spotlight off of everyone else, especially the younger guys, and just keep it on himself because he knew he could handle it. Like taking a bullet, only he (frank)in enjoyed it.
That's just awesome. Like when he took the puck...I'm convinced he did that poop just so people would talk to him about that and not interrogate Richards, Carter, Giroux or anyone else about anything so they could just worry about playing the game.
Pronger knew what it took man. What a leader.
Nobody does that nowadays, ya know? |

Cool. Thanks...man that's a long time ago. I was googling like a mad man and looking at stats for like a half hour and couldn't figure it out.
I figured Brodeur had to do it at some point, but he didn't have the peripherals down. He's the reason no one has done it since Belfour....he led the league in wins like 6 out of 9 season from the mid 90s on.
EDIT: Holy (frank). Vez, Calder, Goalie Triple Crown, Hart all in the same season |
