Do you think that the flyers brass isn't in negotiations with the B Schenn camp because they're waiting to see if anyone would sign him to an offer sheet? With the numbers that are speculated, what kind of a return would that yield? - iroc4me2
I just think that hexy will wait longer to do these deals than Holmgren did. Not so much a Brayden Schenn thing. I think he wants to bleed these types of deals out to get the most cap friendly number possible. I expect more hardball. |

I hated it, too. But there were other factors in play.
First and foremost, Adam Oates was leading the NHL in assists and PP points at the time of that trade. They didn't trade for a broken down, wreck of a player. Oates was having an incredible season.
Two, the night before the TDL, the Flyers played in Tampa. Both Jeremy Roenick and Keith Primeau went down with knee injuries and the Flyers had no way to get solid answers on either before the deadline.
But yes, Oates had a very limited impact and the Flyers wasted potentially good assets on him. - Jsaquella
My point was it just can't be business as usual as Snyder has become accustomed to. I can see doing it then, but now you can't just willy nilly toss in picks for 1 year players like Downie, Gagne... At least Macdonald is a future piece which I'm Ok with trading picks. |

it just seems like a matter of last shot wins kind of thing. these teams just can't hold a lead. - hammarby31
Not sure if it's the skill, or the goalies, I think it's the skill factor, it's amazing! |

It all depends on the return. Simmonds most likely has higher value right now, but the deal would have to wow me. Rumor is that Florida is willing to move 1st overall for help at forward. I'd be willing to move Simmonds and the 17th for that pick, but I doubt Florida would go for it. - BiggE

I do feel Laughton makes one of Couturier or Schenn and even himself expendable. All three of these guys are very young. It never hurts to have some seasoning at this position or to move one for to fill another role on the team. I would consider moving Voracek for a more dynamic and more lethal sniper's shot. If Nashville was crazy enough to offer one of Seth Jones or Shea Weber for thr Schenn Brothers (Yeah Right) how can you say no? At the same time, there is something to be said about allowing a young group grow together. I wouldn't underestimate this. |

I bet the #1 pick hasn't been moved very often with the team dealing the #1 not staying in the top 10, or even the top 5. |

We don't know how good Laughton will be yet. I like him and see him as a future top 6 forward, but there is no guarantee. I believe he can play wing too. |

The entire Kings defense has been a bit turnover prone tonight. Even Doughty has had some bad ones. |

Well the Flyers did get the 1st overall pick in 1975 (Mel Bridgman) for Bill Clement. |

I agree some of it is Snider. But I don't feel his influence extends to saying get rid of that guy or get me this guy, in all but a few cases. Snider presses his GM's to win now, and makes public statements that force the GM's hand. |
