Murray has said all the right things for me. He is acquiring bigger players up front, he seems commited to tanking next year- by saying that the top six forwards will be the same, and saying that its very likely that whoever we draft will not be in buffalo next season (although a ten game look doesnt seem out of the question). I see the rebuild shaping up nicely with one of the sams being our second line center eventually and mcdavid or eichel being the first. Drafting ekblad pushes the rebuild back another year unless grigorenko develops into that number two center. Its silly to think erhoff gets you any kind of impact forward. I suppose if murray really believes ekblad is the only player worth taking, take him, but that does nothing to address the center position or the forwards in general. Hoping its harrington blowing smoke. - rover16
I think he'll end up being 2C or 1/2RW |

He knows that he needs a little more time, I don't think it's likely that he goes back to Russia. |

Its a shame too because a month before they were. I'm not really sure what happened to them. - Sabresfan-365
We got hurt! Like 6 of 9 top forwards and a few defensemen went down in the last 2 weeks of the season. The timing was absolutely brutal. Never seen the injury bug hit so severely right before the playoffs.

Obviously a lot goes into a players success in the NHL, but you're telling me a potential 1st overall pick can't do ONE stinking pull up? That concerns me. Ekblad or the other Sam please.

It's not though. You aren't winning with a group of 18-19 year old forwards. They need 2-3 years. Reinhart could lead us somewhere in 3 years, same with McDavid 2-3 years after he's drafted.
Bottom line is we don't win without competent forwards, longer you wait to draft them, longer it takes for them to mature and make an impact. - sbroads24
Yes, but you could end up with a McDavid, Eichel, Barzal, etc., and trade for an Evander Kane, and still be in just as good of a spot as you would if you drafted one of those three and Reinhart, Bennett, or even Draisaitl. |

good to have a nice blog to read.. i haven't been around much since there isn't much to talk about..
i see the sabres have signed Baptist, Austin and Ullmark.
is Ulmark headed back to Europe for next season (i would assume so)?
Is Baptist ready for the AHL and can he play there next season?
Does Austin have any shot of ever make it as a regular in the NHL? it looked like he had solid numbers last season in +/- considering he didn't have very many points.
i will hang up and listen |

Pretty sure Ullmark has stated he'll play another season overseas.
Baptist is still only 18 (turns 19 in August) and can only play in Buffalo or the CHL next year.
IMO Austin is a project (he'll be 21 in 2 weeks). At best probably a 5-7 guy. |

You need to move assets to get Kane though , likely ones that are either NHL players or prospects. Which then you need to replace.
IMO our blue line the way it's constructed will be one of the better in the league in 2-3 years. IMO Myers/Risto and McCabe/Pysyk could end up being an excellent top 4.
We also could sign a top 4 player ( if they inevitably move Hoff)
I want to take 3 forwards with our next 3 1sts. We need to get an entire line of scorers |
